Notes about the markings on the Patchett, because I'm bored

Hello fellow forum dwellers!

Having spent… Quite some time on the topic of the Patchett the last couple of weeks, I thought I’d just share a few pieces of information of the gun that I discovered when looking it over in game.

The markings appear to have been added on incorrently, from what we know off the prototype and field trialed weapons:

So far, this is the format I’ve seen on every example I’ve looked at (taking the No. 47 as an example):

A second note on the serial number as well: It appears to be numbered 25030

This too is incorrect, as only ever ca 120 examples were made of the Patchett, and they were all numbered sequentially starting from 001.

What do I make of these discoveries…?

Well, my running headcanon is that in the alternate universe of Enlisted, the gun not only won the SMG trials in 1945 as it did in our timeline, but actually entered service and full production afterwards, which does track with what you’d expect if the war had lasted longer. And thus, the markings changed, due to the change from trials production to service production.

In all due likelyhood though, it’s probably an oversight, and whomever modeled it in game couldn’t be bothered with also replicating the few markings the gun actually had, or giving it a realistic serial number.

That’s all from me, and please take a look at my most up to date suggestion regarding the Patchett below:

Makes sense - but still why a BR1 SMG?

Beats me.

The culmination of British WW2 SMG development? What was going to become their standard SMG for the entierty of the Cold-War…

And DF took a look at that and thought “Yep, perfect BR I gun.”

I think in every thread where the Patchett was suggested, the BR2 or 3 was suggested for it. For me, it always seemed like a Lanchester Model 1, but better.

A good analogy.

It’d trade RoF for controlability, otherwise that’s a good comparison of how the gun would best function.

BR II slot for the Sten Mk V, then the Patchett in BR III. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

Mk 5 with a 50-rounds magazine for BR3 and Patchett with a 50-rounds magazine for BR4.

The logical continuation. :+1:

Though, as nothing more than Event guns, the Lanchester 50 should not be less common than any other gun using its magazine. It would be rather silly if it was, the gun which was the only one to use the 50-round magazine somehow being less common than meme weapons.
