Normandy used to be fun. Now it's a joke

Dear Dark Flow,

You ruined Normandy with the implementation of Paratroopers. They were bad enough when they became available as premium squads… And now that you created an event that has rewarded these same players with an additional paratrooper squad to their rotation… Do you realize what you’ve done to the game?

-Attacking teams that are composed of players, who each have 1 or 2 paratrooper squads in his/her rotations, have the ability to spawn on top of the objective throughout the entire match (as well as on the flanks, and near the defending team’s spawn point)
-Stacked teams, with players who are in parties, and are using discord/microphones… can literally communicate with each other, and time/choreograph :hourglass_flowing_sand: the deployment of each of their paratrooper squads.
-The paratrooper-plane Magically arrives out of nowhere, is not marked by a red triangle (like radiomen’s bombers), and it quickly deploys the paratroopers with minimal risk with ever being shot down before the paratroopers are deployed.
-In order to succesfully stop an incoming paratrooper plane, a player is required to camp on an AA gun, and wait for these Stealth planes to magically appear in the sky (from any direction, with no identification).

-People complain about grey zone campers, right? What about people camping on AA guns, who are trying to counter the paratroopers who are spawning anywhere-and-everywhere on the map?

-Each team only has 10 human players, and many times, matches are not full, and teams are composed of A.I controlled squads.
-If the defending team has 1 or 2 players in a tank
-And 1 or 2 players in an aircraft
-You only have 6-8 human players who are able to engage the attacking paratroopers, who can literally spawn ANYWHERE on the map.
-Matches that are not full, sometimes there’s only like 3 or 4 human players using infantry squads.
-Allied team now has a the ability to spawn anywhere on the map, with full squads armed with SMG’s/LMG’s that have 100-round capacity.
-If you consider paratroopers spawning anywhere, the constant aircraft spamming, tank spamming, artillery spamming, and WP spamming… the matches become nothing more than an explosion/sprinting simulator, with Call of Duty CQC style gun-fights.

From the defenders perspective, there’s no more teamwork, nor is there any form of line-of-defense.
At any given time, paratroopers can appear from any and all directions, and defenders are now fighting Alamo-style, from all four directions of the map.

As a defender… A player must watch his front, his left, his right, his rear, and the sky.
Because unless you’re camping and staring at the sky, you’ll never know where the paratroopers are going to appear next. The moment you focus your attention to the advancing infantry that are on the ground… is the moment a paratroop squad spawns behind you (or directly on top of you), and shoots you and your teammates in the back.

For example: Take one of my matches from today. The map was D-Day, and the match was nothing short of a joke. The opposing team was spawning paratroopers throughout the entire match, and all five objectives were captured in less than 13 minutes.
The attacking team would literally time the deployment of their paratroopers, with movement of each objective, and were able to maintain 1,000 tickets until the final objective (where they were bled down to 800).
The defending team was slaughtered in all directions.

There’s no more strategy in this game. Each map is just a shitfest. Pay some money, and you can spawn anywhere on the map (even if the deployment location doesn’t make any sense)
Good job :-1:

First objective: Example of attacking paratroopers immediately deploying at the start of the match. Why is there no delay, like the aircraft? For F*** sakes, give the defenders a chance to build some AA, to try and counter these absurd elite soldier.

Second objective: Paratroopers appearing out of nowhere

Third Objective: Part 1: More Paratroopers spawn ontop of the objective

Third Objective Part 2:

Fourth Objective: Hey look, more paratroopers spawning on the objective :-1:

Final Objective: Imagine that. No effort required. With the click of a button, the attacking team can instantly spawn ontop of the remaining objective (while the defenders have to sprint 100+ meters)

Scorecard:

And while I would love to continue showing video examples of other matches, it’s too time consuming and redundant. The only way you could possibly make this situation worse than it is, is creating more paratrooper squads and allowing players to cycle through three at a time.

I sincerely do not understand how this Big Update is going to make the game better, when it’s very apparent that the phrase Historical Accuracy and the game Enlisted, can no longer be heard in the same breath.

Enlisted is moving further and further towards the most NON-Historically Accurate WW2 games on the market.
The bells and whistles can only distract people for so long…

Speaking of Historical Accuracy and Realism. Have you ever looked at historical images of the American paratroopers from WW2?
Have you ever paid attention, and noticed how encumbered each soldier was with all of the gear he would be deploying with?
Feel free to browse the historical images below, and consider how long it would take to remove/organize all of their gear, once each soldier hit the ground.
How long do you think it would take each soldier to safely land, unburden his gear, organize, and then be combat-ready?

But in the game Enlisted, the paratroopers only carry minimal gear, and they are able to engage in combat the moment they hit the ground.

The direction this game is going, doesn’t look very appealing.
Why would anybody enjoy playing match-after-match, that is nothing more than a steamroll?
Even as the attackers, it’s strange how people do not find this type of gameplay boring?
Where is the fun or challenege, in being able to spawn anywhere you want?
What’s fun about matches ending in 10-15 minutes? That’s the same duration as something you would find in a match of Halo, Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, etc.

Oh, and to pour some salt on the wound. It was an awful idea to remove the display of player-ranks from the scorecards.

Seems like a convenient way to conceal stacked-teams, unbalanced matches, new players, and A.I. controlled squads, as a way to manipulate players into participating in matches that are completely one-sided.

It would be useful to know when my team is composed of entirely new players, while the opposing team has 6-8 gold ranks. And vice-versa.
Nobody wants to waste their time playing matches that are going to be one-sided and boring…

I aint reading all that, but
1: Just look up when you hear them, they are very much vulnerable when dropping
2: You have access to them too, use it
3: They’ll most likely be available in tech trees post merge so…

Exactly why they did it, people whine and cry and DC when they see the enemy team with more gold ranks (which literally just show how much so and so played this season)

I just had one of these matches, where it is literally raining men, insert(Weather Girls Tune)

4+ at a time? crazy, look up everyone says, what about the other people on ground shooting at you as well?

These events, which contribute the playing one side more than other, is silly.

I suggest that, where you have spaces between squads in events them, double them, so then, you get both squads together,
so at least other side can then deploy there squads at same time, instead of spending 10 days getting analed before they get there squad.

could just do the card to buy one or the other.

But I suspect most would have gone British paras first anyway as its the most unique.

I think this a good idea

Still the other team, at same time, would also be able to have there’s as well.

hehe, so when they all para to enemy end, other team can all be paraing to there end, at same time, now its fun :stuck_out_tongue:

Shame I won’t get the German ones (I was on a trip) but whatever.
I am satisfied with the Brits.

And auto-snipe 7 moving soldiers who are only in the sky for like 5 seconds? Sorry, but most people don’t use aimbot cheats. And how are players supposed to shoot them out of the sky, at distances greater than 50m?
Please provide video-evidence of yourself consistently killing paratroopers as they are falling from the sky.

Most the time, infantry players are occupied with fighting ground-units/infantry… so the addition of paratroopers spawning anywhere from the air, completely adds PROBLEMS when team compositions are rarely balanced. Do you expect new players to be succesful when it comes to individuals who are trying to learn the game… but are regularly killed from the front, left, right, behind, and above?

How fun

No I don’t, because I haven’t participated in the event. Nor am I willing to pay $$$ for the priveledge of contributing to the problem.

The final nail in the coffin. Imagine stacked teams, with players who are cycling paratroopers with 3 squads.

The rank is irrelevant. But knowing whether or not you’re on a team with experienced players vs a team full of new players… That’s where the information is relevant and important to know.

Why would veteran players want to waste their time carrying a team full of rookies/brand new players?
And why would a rookie want to play against a team full of veterans/premium players?

i absolutely agree with you, it seems like the ones who are okay with it are the ones that’s exploiting this.

It’s easy to say “just shoot them”, it could be done if only they weren’t to spawn above your ducking head, i don’t know how others play this game but I’m not playing with my eyes up constantly :joy:

multiple times i knew about paratroopers landing just a second before they land or because teammates ping the position but you know how playerbase are with pinging stuff.

and just one time i had conquest and we had all objectives under control in first 20 sec bcs para dropped on the point closest to the enemy. This was ridiculous.

There need to be tweaking made, either not allowing them to drop on the point directly or some delay time or whatever will do.

As soon as the campaigns merge there will be 3 paratroopers available for US players.
Not counting a 4th tech tree version…so basically, anyone that got the event squads can have 3 then. I anticipation of this I got the event paratroopers. Any F2P player can have 3 para trooper squads so it won’t be a premium only thing, so don’t worry.
This is all assuming they stop at paratrooper I and don’t add II and III. If they go that route then even players that didn’t get the event squads can go full paratrooper. Perfectly fair then.

DF should limit the amount of paratrooper squads a player get to bring(just 1)

While i wouldnt limit how many you can put in your deck, (lets you have choice between them based on situation)

*paste from other thread

It would be pretty easy to remove these back to back spawn spam rotations by just increasing the individual squad lockout every 3 spawns to include “squad type” every 3.

Lose a tank/para squad, cant get back in tank/para for 3 spawns etc etc

This is going to be bad for Soviet on merge since they are the only faction that has yet to get paratroopers. If we see paratroopers in the Eastern Front after the merge, this needs to get called out as Germany can have two paratrooper squads available if they bought the premium and get the event one.

Worst offender is going to be Americans possibility having all 3 paratrooper squads though.

Pretty soon there won’t be any point to use other squads. Not when you can spawn wherever the hell you want, at any given time. It’s going to be chaos in all directions.

Edit: Especially considering the weapon loadouts that are being given to these paratroopers.

Yeah, but overall nothing has changed. It’s not like that “Normandy used to be so different and fun”.
Btw. It was obvious irony.

He just doesn’t like paratroopers and this is more complicated way how to bitch about them over and over again.
It’s basically just spam since he didn’t say anything new.

I find simply grabbing the load out from the box in the heat of battle kills of half my squad already meaning you should really drop on a flank someone can just walk too as well.
I do kindasee what you mean but taking your time on a flank with a specialised squad can be much more effective. Especially since getting in an Engineer in each squad is very valuable and the para’s can only get it in the mortar squad. A squad for which your spawn point doesn’t matter that much and 1/3 of your troops are being weighed down by a 20kg (or whatever the weight) mortar set.

Players that know what they are doing will, and often already do, know about this. And players that don’t know what they are doing…well, can’t fix stoopid no matter what gets added to the game.

lol u dont know why germans are losing in normandy. it is because of more skilled players choose to play in allies side in normandy

Jesus. Why do you need to write an essay? Do you want to make sure no one will read it?

Anyway Normandy never really made fun unless you were Obi Wan Kenobi enjoying killing Stuart Skywalker on hills with impenetratable Tiger or Panther or you are a P-47/ Ju188 spamer. Normandy is the illustration of spam. It started with Jumbos and Ju188s and evolved to Tigers and tactical nuke P-47.

And most people, who complain there, are German Mains who got used to constant bot farming there and defender weirdos who do the sitting duck strategy and wonder why the enemy constantly flanks them
