New soldier economy feels horrible

Runs fine on my shitbox

Infinite is made by 343 who hasn’t made a good game since they came into existence
And 2042 isn’t broken, biggest drawback is the specialist system

I’m sorry for your loss

I started playing like a week before this update and I got lucky to get a fair ammount of soldiers from bronze orders in Moscow Campaign as Axis and in Normandy as Allies. But I still feel the lack of soldiers and silver orders when I play other campaigns such as Tunisia. Even filling up newly unlocked squads in Normandy sometimes gets problematic, as I’ve spent a lot of silver orders before.
Anyway, I still liked the game and kept playing and introduced it to 4 of my friends. They played for a week or so but stopped, mainly because they’ve spent silver orders unreasonably (I’ve made that mistake too) so now they can not fill up their squads properly even in one campaign.
This new economy seems very hostile towards new free to play players, lack of which may be a crucial for this project in a long-term perspective.

I fall into the category of people that had squads filled out and bronze/silvers saved up, came back a few days ago after a 5 month hiatus to the new economy, it’s very garbage, I can’t imagine the struggle new players must go through to get where most of the long-timers are at in terms of soldiers. At least let us use bronze again to pull for soldiers. We don’t have the academy anymore so that’s nice, but if weapons are on the same chopping block then lots of players are going to be in serious trouble.

Looks like we’re well on our way to a similar state as War Thunder economy.

Doesn’t matter if it’s good, people will still flock to it regardless lol. Just the nature of big titles. Plus Portal looks good  We’re seeing a good boost to our playerbase right now with consoles joining in but once 2042 hits I really think that the Enlisted playerbase is going to get hit hard.

They should reinstall bronze troop orders. Only receive a 1 star basis rifleman so we can at least fill squads so they aren’t empty slots. Could keep all the specialists for silver orders

I think this is true in the short term. Portal does look good but the problem is with how the servers are, I don’t think it is going to lead a very cohesive community due to needing 1 soldier in a server at all times to stop the server from being deleted.I’m a massive Battlefield game but did not like the Battlefield 2042 beta, I will probably buy the game for Portal but I will be sticking with Enlisted as my main FPS game. As for the new soldier economy, it needs to be fixed, the current setup is good for longtime players but awful for new players, need to bridge that gap.

You know when they rework the weapons it will be horrible as well. Do not spend your silver weapon orders.

If they gave a recruitment order for level one soldiers with every squad unlocked it would alleviate a lot of the problem. Also allow people to remove all soldiers from squads not in use.

I’ve been trying to only grind for weapons, getting rid of my excess ones creating maxed out ones, cause I don’t want to be stuck with 25 guns between one star and maxed. I even crushed all my axis Berlin started rifles, got 10 maxed out for 600 I believe. But there is know bonus, or discount, so 2\4 parts a gun. Only took 20 minutes.

Smash 'em now.

I agree with that mostly. Some weapons I will not disassemble like the MP43. The higher the campaign level the harder the rng for bronze orders.

Oh yeah I don’t crush the high tier ones, unless I have a bunch. Example one of my tank crews have maxed out mp 40s, early level guns are the ones I don’t wanna be stuck with. I don’t think I’ve ever crushed a FG42, at least not the trooper one, I have cursed the sniper one, but I got an unusual amount with bronze.

How to approach weapons is a dilemma right now. If the next update or two follows the path of troops, the ability to purchase random weapons with bronze orders will soon say…bye bye. I’m thinking that it might be smart to decide which campaign deserves your bronze weapon orders. If you are mid campaign and have just unlocked a powerful weapon….might be the time to stock up with bronze orders before the switch to silver orders only. But who really knows

This is true.

I had an idea for a possible compromise:

Hm. Honestly I do enjoy leveling soldiers with bronze orders more, than the old system. It is more straight forward. I am a premium player and have the premium battle pass, but I am not able to buy as many soldiers, as I need to. I just started playing Allies on Normandy and Tunisia, bad idea  you just don’t have enough silver orders.

Later on in campaigns it will not be that problematic, as it takes a while to unlock the next levels. And that is what annoys me the most. Even with double the XP (premium) and being almost always on the top 3, winning most of the times, it feels way way way to grindy!

I really can’t understand how I came so far (level 28) without premium.

I do not have any excess bronze orders. The weapon orders I always turn in as quickly as I get them. I also got nearly 50 silver weapon orders and will save them for the weapon progression rework. When the soldier progression upgrade hit, I had zero silver soldier orders as I used all of mine on the assaulter tier III’s on Normandy, not thinking that that would screw me over … :joy:

A. heartstone is older than war thunder if I remember correctly.

B. No even the war thunder grind fest dear to push that hard monetization on their games.

Honestly the worst aspect of the new system, is that it removes a lot of the incentive to keep playing past the first battle past missions. Since there isn’t anything attractive to get past that point. Compare that to war thunder, where a good run can land you silver lions for quite a while. This adds excitement and motivates the player to continue. And that affects player engagement which in turn highly reduces the chances of players spending real money in the game, as they don’t spend enough time playing
To get invested enough to go in the store and buy anything

Hearthstone has massively revamped their monetization model in the last 3 years after more competitors entered the space. Theyre much more generous to their F2P players now and focus on selling cosmetics or expansions.

I don’t really understand what you mean by this.

You’re saying players are excited and motivated to continue, but that… reduces player engagement and makes them play less? That’s the opposite of what happens. The general motivation for players to play Enlisted is to unlock more stuff, and upgrade their soldiers/squads. Right now both of those are absurdly difficult for a F2P player, who makes up 80%+ of the playerbase, to do. Thats the issue.

You misunderstood me, I said that the progression nerf, made it so people engagement is reduced, to the point they don’t play the game enough to buy stuff.
So it both reduce player enjoyment and the profit potential on the long term.

Which is pretty bad.

I was a bit tired when I wrote this, what I meant is that war thunder might be grindy but not even they push for monetization as hard as the new progression does.

Ahhhh okay i understand now. Yes, I’d agree. IMO, the new system is just the straw the broke the camels back in terms of F2P progression.

Technically as F2P you only need three core squads in a field. You cannot shuffle them in the middle of the battle (premiums have this room to maneuver).
With unlocking new units within campaign, we get free grenades, tnt and first aid kits, but no troops - they need to fill the squads weather they are fielded or not.
Easy way to resolve numbers issue is to allow unused squads to be send to reserve with no troops in it. F2P players will be able to at least fill the empty troop slots with regular riflemen, not just run with half empty squads.

I said I’ve paid over 175 bucks into this game so far, I am not really a F2P player. There is still literally no way for me to fill out my squads in Tunisia, it is time locked.
