New soldier economy feels horrible

What happened to recruiting soldiers? I just came back from a break with 0 silver orders, since that was no problem before. And now with Tunisia I can’t even fill up my squads with guys because silver orders are hard time-locked in the Battle Pass and the ONLY way of getting new soldiers?

Stop ruining the game with lazy monetization sh*t and make the actual game good. I’ve spent over 175 bucks on this game so far, I clearly want to support the development of this game. But everything that is not inside a game right now is just an absolute chore. Just one example, the soldier, equipment and squad UI would barely be good enough in a 2005. There are 7+ different screens that are mostly empty space, slow and clunky to navigate, and could EASILY be made into ONE single UI.

But instead of seeing the broken things fixed or even worked on, there’s just some lazy new way added to further monetize the game. The feeling of being asked to spend real money for EVERY SINGLE LITTLE THING is so obnoxious, even more so now that even new soldiers for squads is directly locked behind the Battle Pass…

Why do I feel anxiety when I open up this game now instead of excitement?

All the CBT/CAT players saved up a lion’s share of bronze and silver orders so they aren’t complaining about the new system but it is very new player hostile.

I take exception to that.
I have done nothing but put clear and concise arguments to DF about the state of the economy with new soliders.

And I will keep trying. Here and on Reddit / Twitch. Anywhere I can.

I was generalizing. I’ve seen a lot of haughty posts going “I had over 9000 bronze orders, maxed all my dudes lmao love the new system!”

Honestly if I joined at this point in the economy I probably would have quit the game. It’s pretty brutal.

They were too sweeping in what they did. Period.
Without a proper and clear way for at least casual F2P players to earn silver orders, it killed a lot of the progression for them. They took a monetization model too far.
I had a ton (Not 9000 lol) but around 2200. And although I was happy Acedemy was gone (it was like its own sick mini-game, and not fun at all), I did not like the model they chose.
It will happen to weapons too, and probably soon.

Every change they make seems to fuck over F2P players. Their monetization strategy is antiquated and completely backwards. Its based off of War Thunder and World of Tanks instead of modern F2P games like the MOBA’s, Fortnite, Hearthstone, etc. They create problems and then sell the player the solution instead of creating a genuinely good game that pulls in a large playerbase, which the top 5% of is targeted with all your monetization.

Oh trust me the weapons grind will get much harder. Every time the forums ask for something ESPECIALLY having to do with reworking progression, it gets harder. wish people would learn.

it was very abrupt and it obviously caused a lot of confusion. Especially when they said “you can sell spare soldiers for orders!” and encouraged people to keep grinding then never rolled that change out.

I thought it was kind of a weird mechanic, like pokemon or some shit but I figured anything they thought up for a replacement would be much worse. I found it much less frustrating to get Tier V soldiers. Constantly swapping dudes in and out of the front line was a little arduous.

I agree. It’s the frustration mechanic and it’s a shame when it overshadows game development and you lose all sense of coherence in your dev cycle because you are working around inputs and outputs of cashflow instead of designing a good game.

The linear progression in general is annoying and unfriendly to starter squads. There’s virtually no drawback to semi and full automatic weapons. There’s no reason to use the PZ2C or Stuart when you unlock the later tanks. So much content falls to obsolescence.

For the record
Leveling up guys via bronze orders is infintitely better than the academy

Removing troops for bronze orders was one of the most retarded decisions I’ve seen in awhile and its even worse knowing they’ll do the same to weapons

I’m not disagreeing with that at all. I understand that the company needs to make money. But not at the expense of the F2P players.
I am here to buy the content so the rest of the players can bloodly well play and enjoy the game.
They need an easier path for soliders. Period.

I think it’s better and more convenient in a lot of ways but I’m not sure the economy is there. I felt like I progressed soldier tiers via academy at a faster rate. I haven’t really been paying attention either so I could be wrong.

Stripping dudes off and recreating loadouts constantly was certainly annoying.

They will 100% and I wouldn’t be surprised if the silver order cost got bumped up a bit too.

Disabling or hampering F2P poors from being able to flesh out a squad or enjoy new content via random drops is retarded. Getting a full star weapon drop randomly from the bronze order crate was a nice lil boost. Considering how many squads there are to equip its not like its that big of a fucking deal.

Amen. idk if they really think they’ve got a market cornered or what but there’s definitely other options out there to experience dolphin diving and bunny hopping.

The sheer fact that it isn’t outright timegated and loses you two men for every level up makes it better
You level up as fast as you can level that soldier class as well so long as you have bronze tokens

They do that then I’m just going to dump more time into 2042 and Infinite. I already have a hard time coming by silver weapon tokens as is because I need 3 per new gun in the campaigns I’m far in

The only outcome from these changes is massive turnover0 of new players and utter lack of new player retention

I think the point is that you used to improve soldiers evenly. At the same time you were improving the new assaulters, radiooperators and engineers. Now you can quickly train one, but it doesn’t seem to me to be getting any better over the distance.
I used to send 3 fighters with 4 stars to the academy almost every night, now I have about 50-60 bronze requests per day, which means about 0.5 upgrade of a 3 tier soldier from rank 4 to 5 (and there are also 4 and 3 levels, which are also worth a bronze card)
I think it’s hard to calculate the actual rate, but if bronze cards were given for 1000 experience instead of 1500, it would be better.
Silver cards should be given for experience in parallel with bronze cards, but so that experience is not distributed between silver and bronze, but duplicated for each type of card. The price in experience for a silver card could be around 50-60 thousand, which would be tolerable for beginners and enough for people with premium to systematically get soldiers in each campaign.
Right now I’m trying out new campaigns and I feel sorry for wasting my silver card stock because I see myself opening up squads and improving them faster than I get silver cards for soldiers.

yeah yeah, I didn’t mean to sound like I was disagreeing, i 100% agree with what you said. It’s just extra frustrating to me because its not even “Oh, the devs are just being greedy”. No, they’re literally just wrong. I’m 100% convinced they could make more money in the longer term by changing their monetization model while also making the game more enjoyable for players. It’s infuriating.

yup 100000% this. Maybe Battlefield 2042 will be a wake up call for this, but idk.

Good luck playing 2042 with new hardware recommendations, when nobody can get them due to global supply problems.
