Hi all!
This is Part 2 of my proposal to add maps that would seamlessly and naturally fit all BRs.
Here is Part 1:
PROPOSED NEW THEATER: BALTICS (1941/1944)
1. LOW BR: SUMMER-FALL 1941
Map: “Baltic strategic defensive operation”

- Battles: The initial, chaotic days of Operation Barbarossa. German Panzer divisions of Army Group North race to seize the vital road and rail bridges over the Daugava River at Daugavpils to maintain their blitzkrieg momentum towards Leningrad.
- Equipment:
- USSR: T-26, BT-7, T-34.
- Axis: Pz.III J, Pz.38(t), Pz.IV F1, StuG III A.
- Visuals:
- Green forests, untouched wheat fields, Baltic towns and villages.
- Burning Soviet border outposts, chaotic retreat scenes, abandoned BT-7s on sandy forest roads.
- Riga, Vilnus, Kaunas, bridges over the Daugava River.

2. HIGH BR: FALL 1944
Map: “Baltic strategic offensive”

- Battles: The Soviet offensive operation. The Red Army returns to the same river line, now facing a German defenses, to cross the Daugava and begin the encirclement of Army Group North in the Courland Pocket.
- Equipment:
- USSR: IS-2, T-34-85, SU-85, SU-100
- Axis: Panther G, Tiger I, Jagdpanzer IV/70.
- Visuals:
- The same terrain, now scarred by three years of war. Cratered fields, destroyed villages rebuilt into strongpoints, forests thinned by artillery.
- German trench networks, minefields, and anti-tank ditches.
- Landing craft used for contested river crossings.

3. BONUS – BALTIC REPUBLICS RED ARMY UNIFORMS
Pre-1940 Baltic state uniforms. Following the Soviet annexation of the Baltic states in 1940, the existing Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian armies were formally integrated into the Red Army structure.
These uniforms were then outfitted with standard Soviet Red Army insignia, rank badges, and emblems. This created a distinctive “hybrid” look, especially in 1941, where the cut and color of the tunic, style of boots, and characteristic caps (like the Lithuanian kepurė) remained visibly different from standard Soviet issue.
POLL - add Baltics map set?
- Yes
- No
Thank you for your attention.
