New communication method in 2024?

Hello, briefly about the sore point - recently there has been a split between the expectations of players and the activity of developers, which is further intensified due to different views on the future of the game (it also varies greatly within the community) and strong opacity of communication (developers are transmitted, but it is not clear whether they work out or ignore and whether everything comes through).

The essence of the proposal is as follows - add communication inside the game and do not take it to the forum - this will give more understanding about the real state of affairs and the opinion of the community, and we will be able to see by the frequency of this communication that we are really being heard. I propose to do it in the following format:

Voting inside the game:
Periodically release votes in which you can participate inside the game, and not go to the forum. This will add objectivity, since some of your loyal players will never come here, and some of the local inhabitants last played half a year ago and then a couple of matches.
For example, you can add the following restrictions to the filter:

  1. More than 20 hours have been played on the account (it will be difficult to organize a bot farm and thus sabotage the voting).
  2. There are at least 3-5 hours in the last month (it guarantees that people at least roughly represent the current state of the game and their opinion is relevant, and if someone bothers with a bunch of other accounts, good luck reactivating them every month).

After the voting is over, make a post with the results so that the community can see them. Yes, it may add to the work of the KM, but it will be better than clearing up a long dispute between 2-3 players with opposing opinions who are trying to speak for the entire community.

To begin with, a voting system would be very helpful where people could prioritize the tasks that the game pursues, for example, let us arrange the following items in the order we want (the order is arbitrary):
The Economics of Silver
BR Balance
Bug and glitch repair
New content
Events

The same voting can be given according to the ideas of rebalancing units / weapons / maps that appear in your head - several solutions you have proposed from which players will choose the one that will have the most positive effect on the impressions of the game.

Let’s make the game better together!

what do you think the forum it’s for?

what you propose is a survey, but idk if i want majority of playerbase that doesnt know how to build rally points and doesnt come close to cap points to actually decide about direction of the game.

As I said above:
ā€œThis will add objectivity, since some of your loyal players will never come here, and some of the local inhabitants last played half a year ago and then a couple of matches.ā€ So real data from more players

I see every time that some players arguing about game state and how it should be changed, but this 2 dudes aren’t entire comunity. I play with 9 different players in total and i am one of 2 that aren’t lasy (or buisy) to go to the forum and write/react from time to time.

like, going over a forum is not that hard.

i don’t think if said players aren’t really willing " to pull the leg " with a couple of clicks, are really interested anyway to leave feedbacks to begin with.

if we will diversify by players ā€œqualityā€ to let them vote we may end up in a situation when most profitable donators would be the only ones to decide

that’s the stupidest thing i have ever heard

mostly a shit show

nice pfp

Actually an amazing idea.

I’ve been playing riot games for 15 years ( give or take) and quite often they pull a survey based on the game you played the most lately, so they have intel from players who just want to play, not wonder around a forum, and based on the results they make their games better.

Not perfect, but they are actually pretty balanced, free to play for real, enjoyable with friends, and correct me if I’m wrong, but they make a looooot of money being actually free to play, transparent with their community, and correct their course based on massive feedbacks.

Here it feels like we all give the same feedbacks, but nothing really changes, so everyone on the forum is just angry, the more angry they are the more active they are, meanwhile players who want to play a game or 2 every time they come home don’t want to scroll the forums ( we have jobs too, family, kids, plans for the future, etc ) but their feedback could be valuable as well.

Based on playing hours, devs could also get massive feedbacks from vets, and new players.

We all want a bigger playerbase, and making the game noob friendly to bring new blood in and keep them playing needs noob feedback, meanwhile vets who kept the project alive for years also have needs and wishes, and they need to be adressed.

Doing a massive in game survey based just on played hours could do that:

What do vets want?
How to make sure new players stay in?

If more new players come in, then what do they would like to spend their money on to support the devs?

But first you need to bring new players in. Massively.
As a new player, I can tell you this is not a fun game to play unless you love to suffer.

I was hoping coming here I could give an honest feedback before steam launch, hoping that playing the game in beta phase, this feedback from a new player could help the devs make it noob friendly.

No one answered except players, I said it on multiple topics, no one from the dev team took any time to answer, even after tagging them.

So I kept scrolling around the forum, and instead of finding what I was looking for, I became another bitter player, wondering why I spend my time on a beta game when I read everything I struggle with, vets do to, but as a new player it’s even worse.

I know I’m in beta, so I accept some stuff, but some fixes need to be adressed asap, and new players won’t stay, therefore they won’t buy premium, therefore the game will just slowly die.

As a new player, I am on the forum just for the shitshow now, because I feel I’m not being listened when I try to give honest feedback to make the game new player friendly.

And then with the paying steam EA shit show, I can only hope this was a wake up call for DF, not their death sentense.

Because I love the game, I love the maps, I love the graphics, I love the concept, and I want the game to succeed so I can play with my friends.

But they don’t want to come because it’s shit for new players ( 4th game vs br3 vets? Is this really how you intend to keep players in? Took me 2 weeks to understand how the game works, after over a month I still don’t know my playstyle, because I can’t try everything, I never play vehicles, because they are expensive, and vs BR3 vehicles why bother. I’ve been very patient and understanding, but I doubt new players will be)

So yeah, in game survey, great idea.

Make the game good for vets, add campains, maps ( they are soooo beautiful good job guys)
But also consider if you want to bring new players in you need to keep them in, and there are not many new players posting on the forum. And I understand why. I would love to try planes, but this will cost a lot to unlock fun br2 planes, and I’m getting 200 extra silver every day for login in. So I won’t try planes.
I want to try cool tanks as well, but same issue.

I spent the last 10 hrs of gaming not spending a single silver, just to be able to have the squads I hope I’ll enjoy playing.

Yeah, I’ve been patient, but if new players feedback correlate with vets, and they are not adressed at all, the next new players won’t stay, won’t pay premium. Good luck with that.

In game survey, 5 mn, then fix the game, then release completely free to play, with massive communication, basically everything people have been asking for months as far as I can read.

I’ll play a game or 2, maybe more if I’m not ran over by BR3 players who will just crush me, and disgust me from the game even more. Maybe in a week I’ll just drop it.

This will be the experience of patient new players.

for the devs, in every post I try to be as patient and respectful as possible, but no answer, nothing adressed towards new players. You did such a good job so far, I want to stay and bring more people in, but if I’m not being listened, I’ll go back on other games. Finished games.

FPS are all over the place, free to play FPS are all over the place, paying WWII FPS are all over the place, they are finished and they are working.

Even FPS games with IA exist, and their IA are good.

Why did I pick enlisted? Because it’s in beta, and I’m a nice guy, I want to contribute, I want to help, the game if beautiful, fun, the learning curve is endless, I could stay in for years, find friends, bring some, have good times.

But my feedback not being heard? Well I’ll keep playing a week or two, just to see if anyone has a spark of understanding, and they want new players feedback so new players stay in the game ( isn’t it the whole point of it? Bring people in for free, then keep them, then make them so happy they pay premium stuff to support the devs?)

I mean, Riot games season 1 promised 1 million dollars for the best team in the world, and it was completely free.

I spent thousands on lol just for skins, to support the devs because they were doing such a good job.
It’s now one of the most played game in the world, making millions a day, by being free.

Hope enlisted gets that. Truly. I’ve been playing lol since the beta, valorant since the beta, now I found another FPS with IA, that is immersive as fk, beautiful, sounds nice, wow, I want to try it.

Just for a change of scenary.

But if the game is not new players friendly, and new players giving feedbacks are not listened, I’ll go back grinding valorant or lol. I was sick of playing the same games, but at least there I’ll be listened, the games are getting better every season, I’m being surveyed on my expectations, and if they are not met, I assume this is democracy, the devs had to make choices, and I was not in the majority, so I adjust.

Yeah, add surveys, and take example on other F2P massive hits if you want to be one of them.

Or let the game die with bitter player base…

My point of view only. As it’s my experience only, no need for other players to tell me I’m wrong, I need to improve or shit like that, because no one can tell me my feelings are wrong.

However, I’d love to have an honest chat with devs about new player experience, in a respectful and honest conversation, between civilized adults, as I acklowledge the hard work they do, I have no anger towards hard working people. Only bitterness that the game is not new player friendly and no one answers when a new player explains why it’s not new player friendly and proposes changes to make it so. The bitterness is only not being answered. And sarcastic posts while I’ve been respectful doesn’t help.

To whom who would need that feedback.

Respectfully.

A new player, soon to become a disgusted new player leaving a promising game he enjoyed for a week, then spent another month hoping it would be fixed.

Agree with almost all that u said - it is hard. As vet I wish more of my friends could play with me, but i am strugle to lure new players in and it is even harder to convince them to stay and play with. And it happened that I convince friend to try once more but for what? To see that it is still filled with grind unbalanced matches and constant streem of events which are keeping u hostage with ā€œplay every 2 days 20kā€. Their 2nd attempt lasts 1-3 sessions and they leave again and would not give it 3rd chance…

yeah, I played 1 game yesterday, found out no points added onto the event, so I’m waiting another hour to log in, play a game and see if I can stack points.

If I can’t I’ll just leave the game.

How hard was it to put a countdown on it?

I mean even small details can change the entire experience.

without the countdown, I was 2k points away from it, but finished my game a few minutes after the reset ( I didn’t know there was a reset ) and I was at 3K only.

I was disgusted and left the game.

No wonder the population is going down…

Thank you for the almost.

This is the most important word here.

Almost.

You disagree, with some of my feelings, but don’t argue, don’t try to convince me, you just accept that our opinion differs and you respect that.

Thank you for that respect.

I’m only speaking for myself, from my point of view, with my own experience. I don’t pretend to speak on the behalf of every new player.

And you respect that.

Thank you again.

An in game survey could bring that feeling of being heard and respected, while gathering massive infos on people’s feelings, publish the results and the actions taken based on those results.

That would make everyone happy to be heard, having their personal feelings respected, and make the game a better place.

This is, in my own opinion, the best way to fix the major issues.

I saw a lot of people talking about the bipod bug. I don’t even know what it is. Probably a vet stuff.

So vets have things to say, new players have things to say, and in a survey, no rage, no comments to moderate, no loud minority, only data, and actions to take.

Again, thank you for respecting my feelings.

You are the kind of person I’d love to play with.

Honorable and respectful.

Thank you for being a nice human being.

On this forum it’s a nice change

@Community Manager

Here you can find my opinion as a new player, as well as my first post on the forum.

If the devs need infos about how to bring people in, keep them in and get rewarded for their hard work, this would be a nice start.

We are aware of your hard work. All of you.

I can’t imagine how hard it is for the devs because I’m not a game dev. But I assume it’s hard. Very hard. And I want to thank them for the hard work they’ve done so far.

The game is beautiful, immersive, tons of variations, I fking love what they did so far.

Would love to have a chance to speak with someone without haters flooding about how I feel playing the game.

I don’t expect everything to be answered, as I’m not in charge. I just expect a change to talk to someone who genuinely cares about new player experience, because if we want new players, they will experience the same as me, and I’m starting to feel like I’ve been doing this for too long already.

Just a chat. A change to express how hard it is for someone coming in. From that could ( or not, for reasons I can’t understand because it’s not my job ) come out fixes to attract new players and keep them playing, and making sure they are having fun.

As said, I’m not a game dev, I don’t know anything about how hard it is, I can only imagine and see how hard they work, and how beautiful the game is, and how their hard work make me want to play more.
So maybe some of my opinions won’t match their schedule, coding or technical issues, and I’m ok with that, because again, it’s not my job and I don’t know how it works in the back office.

I know how hard it is for you to collect actual datas on the forum, considering the zoo it is atm.

How exhausting it must be to read thousands of useless messages trying to find useful information to pass on.

That’s why I’m asking for a talk. Just a talk, no promises, but in order to pass on new player experience to the dev team, who are working so hard on so many things they only get my respect for it.

I want the game to succeed, I want to play every day, I’m ok paying a premium, but not at this point of the game. It’s too hard for new players.

I want more new players to join in, and I’d love to play vs them. But in order to keep them in the game many things need to be fixed. Simple things, easy things. I’m tired of being ripped by vets, or being top 1 of my team ( I’m a fking noob, how can I be top 1 if I’m playing with other humans, I can’t be that good).

Multiple times I’ve posted my experience and expectations here.

And I feel none of them have been heard.

From what you said in the apology post ( thank you for that, lots of respect to people brave enough to say they are sorry) you don’t have enough data to pass on.

Let’s have a chat.

btw this bug was since beginning of the game, not just for a year.

This all sounds nice in theory.

The issue is, there is an onus for the developers to formulate community feedback and provide meaningful polling.

In short-

They get to decide what gets voted on, and what solutions are available to address it.

Considering how the devs have consistently shafted players and delayed much-needed changes on a regular basis, I do not trust them. Much less when it comes to giving them the reins as to how issues in the game should be addressed, and now under the pretense that ā€œthe community voted for this.ā€

That’s not how objectiveness works.

The devs themselves don’t personally collect feedback- They do it through the community managers and community helpers who compile a list of suggestions they think would be a good idea to implement, but it’s the developers who ultimately decide what to do with the suggestions. While the devs interact with the forums the most, they also collect data from other media.

These helpers at least collect information by way of using the popularity of media via ā€œlikes/upvotes/etcā€ as a real metric to show the supposed weight of a suggestions before putting them on the list.

In the first place, you’re making this suggestion because you don’t think the forums are a good enough place to collect feedback.

Your opinion is that it should come from the playerbase in-game- From people who are not necessarily involved, committed or knowledgeable about issues in the game to make opinions on how to make the game better.

This just seems like anti-forum propaganda.

If you want to improve the game, get in the trenches and communicate here like the rest of us.
