New Buildable AT Guns

I’m back with another suggestion for additional Engineer-built AT guns. This one will be larger than the AA gun post, so buckle up!

I propose adding 10 new AT guns and slightly adjusting the BR of the existing guns in order to create a diverse, balanced experience at every BR. Each nation will have a unique AT gun at each BR from 1-4. No BR5 gun is proposed because the BR4 gun should be strong enough to deal with BR5 tanks given that you commonly see them in BR4 lobbies. Larger guns at BR5 could always be added in the future if the need arises.

BR1

USSR: 45mm 53k (Current)

The current BR1 option for USSR. Can fire the BR-240 APHEBC shell with up to 70mm penetration or the O-240 HE shell.

Allies: 37mm M3 (New)

Prolific mid-war American AT Gun with over 18,000 units produced. Can fire the M74 AP shell with up to 77mm penetration or the M63 HE shell.

Germany: 37mm PaK 36 (New)

Heavily fielded early war German AT Gun with over 20,000 units produced. Can fire the Pzgr.40 APCR shell with up to 86mm penetration or the Sprgr.18 HE shell.

Japan: 47mm Type 1 (Current)

The current BR1 option for Japan. Can fire the Type 1 APHE shell with up to 77mm penetration or the Type 1 HE shell.

BR2

USSR: 45mm M-42 (New)

Upgrade to the early war 53-K with over 10,000 units produced. Can fire the BR-240P APCR shell with up to 112mm penetration or the O-240 HE shell.

Allies: 57mm M1 (Current)

The current BR1 option for the Allies, moved up to BR2. Can fire the Mk.5 AP shell with up to 101mm penetration or the Mk.10 HE shell.

Germany: 50mm PaK 38 (Current)

The current BR1 option for Germany, moved up to BR2. Can fire the PzGr 39 APC shell with up to 106mm penetration or the Sprgr.38 HE shell.

Japan: 40mm QF 2-Pdr (New)

Captured during the conquest of Singapore in 1942. Can fire the Mk.5 AP shell with up to 101mm penetration or the Mk.10 HE shell.

BR3

USSR: 57mm ZiS-2 (New)

Powerful mid-war AT Gun with over 10,000 units produced. Can fire the BR-271P APCR shell with up to 195mm penetration, BR-271 APHEBC shell with up to 145mm penetration, or the O-271 HE shell.

Allies: 76mm M5 (New)

Officially designated as the “3-inch Gun M5” with about 2500 units produced. Can fire the M93 APCR shell with up to 190mm penetration, M62 APCBC shell with up to 149mm penetration, or the M42A1 HE shell.

Germany: 75mm PaK 40 (Current)

The current BR3 option for Germany. Can fire the PzGr 40 APCR shell with up to 182mm penetration, PzGr 39 APCBC shell with up to 151mm penetration, or the Sprgr.34 HE shell.

Japan: 75mm Type 90 (New)

Based on the 1927 Schneider et Cie Canon with over 700 units produced. Primary fielded in Manchuria. Can fire the Type 4 APCR shell with up to 190mm penetration, Type 1 APHE shell with up to 140mm penetration, or the Type 90 HE shell.

BR4

USSR: 100mm BS-3 (New)

Massive late-war AT Gun designed to take out heavily armored German tanks with over 3500 units produced. Can fire the BR-412D APCBC shell with up to 245mm penetration, BR-412 APHE shell with up to 160mm penetration, or the OF-412 HE shell.

Allies: 76mm QF 17-Pdr (Current)

The current BR3 option for Allies, moved up to BR4. Can fire the SV Mk.1 APDS shell with up to 269mm penetration, Mk.6 AP shell with up to 171mm penetration, or the Mk.1 HE shell.

Germany: 88mm PaK 43 (New)

Late-war upgrade to the PaK 40 with over 3500 units produced. Can fire the PzGr 39/43 APCBC shell with up to 237mm penetration or the Sprgr.34 HE shell.

Japan: 75mm Type Ge (New)

A licensed production of the German 75mm PaK 41. Only a few were produced, but it’s the best option I could find for a high-BR Japanese AT Gun. Can fire the PzGr 41 APCR shell with up to 216mm penetration or the Sprgr.34 HE shell.

Here’s the detailed data for each gun. Almost all of the shells are already in the game files, so this data shows their exact values with only a couple that needed to be pulled from Wikipedia.

If you managed to read all of that I commend you. I probably made a mistake or two since this took all evening to write.

Should these AT Guns be added?

DF / Gaijin promised us years ago that the highBR AT-guns built by engineers on russian / japanese sides are only a temporarily placeholder and will be replaced “soon” with an own nation specific one. That was 2-3 years ago (maybe longer if I am not mistaken) and forgotten by them and even asking them lead in no response.

Guess that this is another thing which DEVs ignore fully even if it was written on their “to-do list”.

You wrongly put the performance of 57mm M1 onto the 40mm 2pr. The performance of 2pr will be lame for br2.

The performance is wrong, It will only have 103mm of pen using type1 aphe, I guess you confuse it with the cannon Na-To use.

I’m not for this suggestion, because I think focus should be placed on giving everyone correct AT guns within the two low-high BR brackets that already exist, including for both sub-factions. The Soviets should not be using a British gun, the Japanese should not be using a German gun, and both Commonwealth/US squads and German/Italian squads should have their own guns (AT and MGs both).

All before we stretch out the two BR brackets into four brackets… which OP couldn’t even do without including captured content.

I’d be amenable to a three-tier AT-gun system, not four - and definitely neither before we fix the already existing two-tier system we have.

That being said… the 2-pounder has 89/86/77mm pen at 10/100/500m using APCBC/T (taken from WT), more than adequate for its proposed BR bracket here, considering it’s rightful place is with the British fighting against barely sloaping hulls of German and Japanese tanks of BR II (or even BR III) and below.

The problem is he put the 2 pdr under Japan, not British.
Even for British I will say it should be br 1 since it is more comparable to those at gun he listed on br1.

Thanks for your response.

You’re right that I mixed up the stats for the 40mm 2pdr. I accidentally had the stats for the 57mm 6pdr in my spreadsheet.

The performance is wrong, It will only have 103mm of pen using type1 aphe, I guess you confuse it with the cannon Na-To use.

You’re also right about the shells for the Type 90 75mm. I didn’t realize that the Type 4 APCR was only made for the Type 5 75mm gun, which are longer and higher pressure shells compared to the Type 1 APHE.

It’s really tough to come up with viable options for Japan. I’ll go back to researching to see if I can find appropriate options for these tiers.

I think focus should be placed on giving everyone correct AT guns within the two low-high BR brackets that already exist, including for both sub-factions.

I can agree with this sentiment. This would be a good place to start, with more guns being added later if the need arises.
