New battlefield - Omaha

Commanders, the upcoming “Operation Neptune” major update will bring you new weapons, vehicles, features, customization pieces, animations, effects and on top of all, a new location.

June 6, 1944, marks the day of the largest amphibious operation in history - the Normandy landings, most commonly referred to as D-Day. As part of the update named after the operation, we are preparing a completely new location dedicated to this event, inspired by the Omaha and Sword beaches.

Seasoned players have already fought countless times on the fortified beaches of Normandy - a location with steep slopes and fortifications that present a difficult challenge for the attackers while they advance uphill. In contrast, the new location will feature more flat and varied terrain. Batteries, trenches, pillboxes, barbed wire and shell craters will provide cover and tactical options for both sides on the coast.

However, the battles will unfold not only on the beaches but also in various parts of Normandy as well. In the urban areas, you will encounter defensive lines reinforced with fortifications, multi-story buildings and roads ravaged by artillery fire. Danger could be lurking around every corner!

In the smaller rural areas that weren’t prepared for an offensive, bushes and trees will serve as your primary cover: use them wisely to give yourself the edge over the enemy.

We haven’t forgotten about the industrial and agricultural areas either. Farms, factories and warehouses will offer their own unique combat environments, forcing you to change your tactics on the fly.

What will happen to the old location? Nothing. Its missions will remain in rotation and we’ll evaluate how these Normandy maps measure up against each other. That said, we know that you can’t wait to check out the new location, so for a certain period of time after the update’s release, the chance of getting the new missions will be increased.

Ah.

Now we’re talking. Can’t say I’m disappointed to see this!

(I’d have preferred Juno for known reasons but Sword is just as well)

As always we’re gearing up for a test server soon - can’t confirm the exact date of it being open yet though.

There’s still some more news to come about it, both before it releases and likely some after it releases too, to talk about some things there in more detail that you’ll notice - especially relevant for console players that can’t normally access open dev.

How about new vehicle or new equipment?
In my memory,Omaha should be similar with maps from BF1942.

Great to see more normandy maps! I hope this will be as large as the older ones

The idea was to avoid repeating what had already been seen in various games; there was no point in that, so I had to improvise. I wanted to create a fresh look on this map. There’s a lot of variety there, both familiar and unfamiliar, but I wanted it to have its own style.

Can we hope for a new vehicle and weapon, in tech tree, for ALL FOUR factions this time?

That would be great

Enlisted : Best I can do is one vehicle port from WT or copy pasted weapon per faction.

Anyway, the new map looks awsome.

Btw just saying it would be kinda cool (imo) to have like a gun poking out of some corner or vehicle part poking out like when bulge happen so people can “speculate” what that gun or vehicle could be.

Just my opinion tho that all.

This is lazy and doesn’t address most of the playerbase’s concerns about how Normandy has way too many open sightlines and unbalanced pathing for attackers compared to defenders. These screenshots aren’t impressing anyone, they’re all just reused assets generating a map with equally long if not longer sightlines with the map layout still looking like a Marathon Simulator for any dude stuck playing infantry

I would have preferred more maps for the far eastern front because I am getting so insanely sick of playing Heilongjiang Airport 24/7
