MP 715(r) - A PPD 40 in 7.63 Mauser in German service

Should the MP 715(r) be added to the game as an event weapon?

During the conflict on the Eastern Front, many captured weapons found their way into opposing side’s hands, which often viewed these captured weapons as better then theirs. One such example was the PPD 40, which was captured in high numbers, but not as much as the PPSH41, and was also captured by the Finnish during the Continuation war, and distributed to home guard units. Under the new designation of MP 715(r), this gun would be serviced by Germany for the same reasons as the MP 717(r), the captured PPSH; It had a high fire rate and magazine capacity the MP40 lacked, and there would be no problems with aquiring ammunition, as 7.62mm R wasn’t particularly hard to find on the eastern front, especially in more urban settings, but it could also be loaded with the 7.63mm Mauser round, which was almost identical and could be fired without problem from the gun, and was mass produced in Germany at the time, since it was used as ammunition for the C96 Mauser. As a result, like we see in the MP717(r) in game to make it unique from the Russian one, it would use the German 7.63 instead of the original 7.62. Another possible way this can be more unique from the Russian version is maybe removing the front sight hood from the gun to make the sights different, since the hood was removable and you can find many images of the gun without it. I think this would be a good event gun for BR4, since it was captured in fairly large numbers and used a decent amount, and it would let the people who wanted the MP717(r) from Stalingrad get something similar to it, while keeping the gun unique for the people who did get it.

Why I said no: European Axis are swimming in interesting and unique submachine guns and have a very large number of event weapons already, I would much rather see Mkb42(M) or Mp41(r) return in events than copy-paste a submachine gun.

I know it would fire 7.63 mauser instead of 7.62 tokarev but thats such a minimal difference that it won’t be unique.
As someone who owns Mp717(r) I have no issues with it returning sometimes. Thompson 21/28 should return too for Soviets.

Some guns I rather see in event:
Steyr Mp40 “seventh variation” (1100 rpm fire rate)
SIG MKMO
Mp34 chambered in .45 acp or 9x25 mauser
Soumi kp-31 SJR
Labora Fontbernat M-1938
Erma mp 41/44

Anyway, I don’t want to disrespect your research, and thanks for sharing these cool pictures but in my opinion, there is no need for captured PPD-40.

I guess giving people the MP 715 would help them cope if they missed the MP 717 from stalingrad

I just want 2 more Mkb.42 “15” or 2 more Mkb. 35/III for my assault engineers

The MP 717 (r) already has almost identical stats to the PPD 40 since it doesnt share the same stats as the normal PPSH for some reason.
So if you add an almost copy paste of the same gun but at an lower BR then what is the point of the exclusive “compensation” for stalingrad.

Do we really need TT copes for all the removed premium weaponry to invalidate them aswell?

since when were we talking about putting this in the TECH TREE? I thought this was for an event?

The MP717 has different stats from the PPSh-41 because they use different types of ammunition

I think they have the same stats saved for ROF, where I am not sure if this is related to the “different” ammo.
IIRC it was justified the German verison being a “early” pattern.

No, it was because of the ammo, 7.63x25 mauser has less power than 7.62x25 tokarev so it made the gun cycle a tiny bit slower

around 450 muzzle velocity with tokarev and 430 muzzle velocity with mauser, not to mention that in reality, Soviet quality control was generally poor which is why they “overloaded” their bullets to maintain the same power as the original 7.63x25 mauser.
The difference is so small that its effect on the fire rate is still well within margin of error.
However the Mp717(r) is actually an early production ppsh, recognasible by the tangent sight and lower fire rate.

We German gamers absolutely need it.
