Either check it yourself or stfu
Ho-I
Chi-Nu
Both are similar in reality against rolled armor shermans and APHE has far more reliable post-pen damage. On paper it may seem worse but in reality the Chi-Nu gun is fine. For a better fix just give it a faster reload or something, and/or nerf the Chi-Nu II reload for differentiation.
Now check any other sherman
It’s not all that different.

APHE is just more reliable, and you have a pen indicator so it’s not really much of an issue in reality. Just aim for where it’s green
Gotta love how you shot from a downward angle on these
I turned off considering the camera angle actually, to make it more fair. That’s right head on
blud compared with M4A1/Sherman II (least common) and M4A3 instead of the most commonly used M4A2 because that would have proved my point.
HO-I
Chi-Nu
The M4A2 has different armor than the M4A3? I am pretty sure it is the same
It will also pen the hull of the t34 57 level on tho the protection analysis doesn’t show that
Yeah the pen indicator differing so heavily for tanks with identical armor shows just how unreliable it is. When I tried it a while back in the test range the Ho-I does not pen shermans particularly reliably, so it seems more like HEAT is just sorta weird.
Bro really tried pulling up the War Thunder penetration map ![]()
1 degree difference in sloping, better turret and some other weakspots tweaked… Its close but better.
Better turret armor and the plate covering the transmission is thicker
TIL, good to know! I know that the weakspot on the turret for the drive got removed but didn’t know the sloping was different.
funny, but it is a life and death matter difference XD
Ho i also performs better against an angled kv 1.
So the main difference is rlly just the he filler and ammo capacity.
I forgot about that matchup, wild that they didn’t give japan any new AT weapons. The 9cm type 4 (~120mm of pen) would be a perfect counter to the KV-1 for br3 since they really don’t have anything too good at the moment.
I know this might seem like a foreign concept, but maybe you should use the practice range in the game that we’re talking about instead of the heavily flawed, often incorrect, and lazy protection map in War Thunder.
