Move the normal chi nu to battle rating 2

The chi nu has the same armor layout as the ho i. While it technically has 103mm of pen, it uses uncapped aphe so it performs very poorly at angles. It struggles a lot fighting normal Sherman’s, and the reload is reasonable but still not great at 6 seconds. With Japan now fighting Russia and the chi nu2 being moved down to br 3 this would be the perfect time to see this.
As to how this would perform. It would be a very slight upgrade to ho i. It would have less ammo, ever so slightly slower reload, and better anti tank performance.

Here’s its stats. They’re mostly accurate except in enlisted the chi nu only has 55 rounds of ammo not 70.

Chi nu is just japanese panzer 3j1. It never should have been br 3

It made more sense whenever br 3 Japan couldn’t be uptiered. But yeah now there’s just no reason. This is a slight upgrade to the ho i which is the weakest “meta” tank of br 2.

ngl, thought you meant the Chi Nu2 for a second and voted no, but yeah no, the Chi Nu fucking sucks.

Ah mb. Changed the title to make it more clear

Long 75 in br2 no thank you.

Probably does suck… but i dont think japan should get special treatment.

First of all: not a long 75.

Second of all: you’re acting like 102mm of pen with 6 second reload and bad angle performance is god tier at br 2. This tank is facing Sherman’s and now kv1 and up armored t34. Also fun fact the ho i is actually better against angled armor. Meaning it’s better against t34 and Sherman’s

Wdym by special treatment? There’s tons of normal length 75 and 76 in br 2.

By tons do you mean premium and one a casemate? (if this is the correct term for the grants 75… probably not)

Yes? Seeing as they are in fact in the game? Also the chi nu is literally the worst normal length 75/76 in the game.

Wait i just realized are you trying to troll again? I’m not gonna feed ur need for attention if that’s the case.

I don’t know what this looks like to you… definitely not 75 KWK L48 long it appears though.

When you compare it to other BR2 tanks i think it outweighs them pretty heavily minus the grants 75 which is mounted in the hull however the chi nu does lack proper gunner MG

So maybe with its disadvantages such as you mention low armor… plus its lack of mg i think it could be fair… crusader performs extremely well so, have changed my vote.

Also bear in mind you shouldn’t be comparing it to Russian and American tanks as they don’t have to go up against thick armor. Germany and Japan both go up against Sherman’s and t34 and kv1.

i see that uptiers are a major part of enlisted but don’t think it should be used in an argument this way because then i’d counter with saying we should get pz 3 n with its upgraded heat in BR2 because it competes against KV1

I can’t remember the last time i used 50mm against sherman but im sure they dont have that much of a problem… as long as this doesnt just lol pen anywhere on the sherman i suppose this could be fine.

Germany gets the 50mm tanks. And the 100mm heat would be too unbalanced as heat has a good angle pen modifier so it goes right through Sherman’s and t34 hull. At least with 80mm you need a little elevation advantage to make it go through the hull and you can still pen all the br 3 tanks with some skill (and a little luck against kv1)

chi-nu just needs its improved ap shells with ~120mm pen and then it will be mostly fine as early br 3 tank. we already got the chi-nu ii for tank vs tank battles, chi-nu ‘i’ is better against infantry. to fight uptiers, na-to should be moved down to br 2

That shell isn’t in war thunder so unlikely to come to enlisted. And is there an actual reason to keep chi nu in br 3? If you want anti infantry capabilities there just use the chi ha short gun.

Ho-I really

we got the japanese 37mm he shell here before it was introduced in warthunder and afaik it is only available for chi-ri ii there, so there is still a chance. chi-nu and ho-i are 99% identical performance-wise, with the only notable difference being that one uses heat and the other aphe; i would rather like to keep three tank choices instead of two at br 3, with chi-nu rendering ho-i obsolete at br 2
