Move Mortars down in BR and give US/Japan AT mortars

I believe the Kz 8 cm GrW 42 and the BM-41 should be moved to BR4 to expand the amount of usefulness mortar squads have at higher/mid BRs. The M2 Mortar for the US should also be moved down to BR3 to make it more worth bringing at all, at least until the US gets an AT mortar (M2 4.2" Mortar?). Japan desperately needs more mortar options, ideally starting with the Type 97 81mm Mortar.

EDIT: I believe that the heavy mortars and M1 should all be BR3, the M1 shouldn’t see BR1 but it is a fantastic anti-personnel mortar, while the heavy mortars should be a reasonable option for dealing with tanks in almost any BR due to the difficulty and skill required to effectively use them.

AT mortars are such a gimmick.

The only benefit is that they are dead on accurate besides elevation changes.

You have to have squadmate spot a tank and keep it marked… and then they have to be stationary which they are usually in the if such is the case which you probably can’t hit anyway…

Liked and voted yes! Definitely agree with the downtiers. Once downtiered, there should be a br1 and 3 mortar for every nation imo.
I already had a similar topic: Heavy mortars to BR3
Maybe the heavier ones should be buildables since they are not easy to carry, but thats a whole new topic so i wont digress.

It would be great to see them at 3 br since there is no infantry damage at all, so both mortars would make sense to me.
Now the Amer has a good large-caliber mortar, yes, it cannot destroy equipment, but the damage to infantry is excellent…
As for the 80mm for the Japanese and As for the 80mm for the Japanese and Americans, it is necessary
And 120mm mortars are needed in a unique construction.
Maybe even roсket-propelled mortars, which would be interesting.
Although I would vote for leaving large-caliber mortars at 5 br if they caused huge damage to infantry… But there is no such thing

In general, the topic of mortars is huge and has not been fully implemented in our game, which actually interests me

Unique mortar shovel BM-37
3 in 1

  1. Digs
  2. Kills in hth
    3.It fires 37 mm mines)))
No less unique 6-charge automatic mortar ARM-38

And this is despite the fact that we do not have Italian mortars in the game, although there is a decorator in the same WT, but for some reason they cannot “revive” it.
I’ll add here another interesting Madsen mortar that could fire direct fire and had an interesting system.

Would be nice to use AT mortars against heavier tanks on BR3 like KV-1 or M4A3.
Mortars are easy to counter: just move away. It really only affects tanks that are camping in one place.

Made an edit, do think all three mortars should be BR3, M1, GrW 42, and BM-41. If US gets their own anti-vehicle mortar that should be BR3 as well and that would be interesting for mortar squads to have a mix of anti-vehicle and anti-personnel mortars, which would expand on squad customization.

I’d be fine if every BR IV/V mortar currently was placed at BR IV. then we can add a extra mortar to every faction, except Japan who gets 2. This way everyone has 3 total. 1 low rank one for infantry and open top vehicles (BR I), a mid tier one with more power and radius (BR IV maybe BR III if underpowered) and a AT one in BR V.

Why should US get a 107mm mortar when it literally has the 81mm M1 mortar that is comparable to Kz 8 cm GrW 42 and the BM-41.

Appreciate you finding this, my main post was regarding the BR changes and didn’t look too far into additional mortars. I do think the 81mm M1 is a far better option.
