Come on, you might as well just let the developers release another Tier III tank from the Allies. Why do you have to downgrade Tier IV tanks to torture newbies? Can’t you just stop doing something so unethical?
This isn’t a flame war; it’s just that some veteran players are used to dominating newbies in Tier 3 matches, so they like to downgrade high-tier vehicles for this purpose. 
That’s not even the case…
Achiles is not played for a reason: it’s just… not very useful in br4. it’s only saving grace is being able to pen the Panther frontally. Apart from that, you’re better of using just, anything else at that br.
Moreover, more effective similar tanks are already br3, namely the Hellcat (m18). Achiles have a better gun than the M18… vs tanks. But M18m is better at everything else.
And since in br3, there’s nothing the m18 cannot 1 shot already…
putting Achiles in br3 also is not unreasonable. M18 would remain more useful anyway.

I must disagree here.
Firstly Achiles is a premium, and a very rare one. Nobody use it.
Secondly, Achiles would fare WORSE than the already br3 M18 in br3… Because it’s slower, has slower reload, slower turret traverse…
there would be no advantage using the Achiles over the M18, even in br3. because axis vehicles in br1 to 3 are all paper anyway. the regular entryway Sherman already one shot everything axis have in br3…
Achiles would not cause any problem for axis players that M18 and any other tanks don’t already do.
In fact, I’d argue it would even benefit axis players since Achiles handles worse than the other tanks…
Those who use it really just try to larp Commonwealth forces.

I know some people want to use Achilles to represent the British armored forces, but if a 17-pounder gun capable of destroying a Panther tank can be downgraded to Tier 3, then the problem of Allied tank crews having excessive firepower really needs to be addressed.
If you’re planning to downgrade from 4-tier to 3-tier, it makes sense to remove the APDS.

If APDS shells could be recovered like in
War Thunder, it seems like a good solution.
Didn’t Achilles also carrying much less ammo than Sherman Firefly as well? So it has less armor, no coaxial MG, being open topped, abysmal horizontal turret traverse speed, less ammo than the firefly. The only thing that Achilles does better than Sherman Firefly is that Achilles reloads faster than the Firefly(At least, that’s how it was in WT IIRC). I don’t think that upside alone makes worth it for using it on BR 4. Like all other these kind of TD type vehicles, it should get -1 BR treatment otherwise it’s just another useless, forgotten vehicle that nobody uses because it’s a vehicle that gotten overshadowed by other vehicles at the same BR.

The Axis powers’ Tier III tanks only include various Panzer IV tanks. The Panther tank you mentioned is in Tier IV. Do you really enjoy lying through your teeth?
