More Type 38 Rifles-2
Type 38 Rifle (Short)

During the late 1930s and early 1940s, an unknown number of Type 38 rifles were modified at the Nagoya Arsenal to become short rifles. The barrel was shortened from the standard 794 millimeters (31.3 inches) to 635 millimeters (25.0 inches), the stock was shortened to match the barrel, while the forearm retained its original length.
The final result was the Type 38 light rifle, which had a similar size to the Type 99 light rifle. Since the rifles were converted from the existing stock, there was no consistency in serial numbers or armory markings. Although the total production quantity is unknown, it is estimated to be approximately 100,000.
