Mitsubishi G4M "Bety" for Japan

Nicknamed “Betty” by the Allies, the Type 1 Bombers of the G4M family were the heavy bombers of the Japanese Navy. In May 1941 they performed their first missions in southeast China, perfecting the techniques for their future missions in Malaya and the Philippines. During the Malaya campaign, they took part in the shocking sinking of British battleship Prince of Wales and battle cruiser Repulse alongside of the older G3m “Nell” bombers; it was the first time capital ships were sunk by aircraft exclusively while at sea. When unescorted, these bombers with their unprotected fuel tanks were extremely vulnerable to interceptor aircraft, leading to the Allied airmen’s nickname “one-shot lighter” for them. Their vulnerabilities were greatly exaggerated by the use of these bombers as low-altitude torpedo bombers. When used as a bomber at higher altitudes, however, they could easily make their attacks and escape before Allied fighters could reach the same altitude, as far I know they make LOT of variants so devs could choose one for implement in the game, I would love ask to the player base what variant you wish it should be added and the br you would place, also the war thunder stats for the G4M1 also I wish know if you would add as TT,Premium or event.

Speaking armament wise

just remember event flame plane for americans who have hvars and the drop thing due it’s too slow, br 3, yes is a figther, but I was trying say one example lmao

Agree with BR3 for the G4M1, and I can see 3 of the payload options (4x 250kg, possibly 12x 60kg or 1x 800kg) being fairly balanced considering the downsides, compared to something like the XA-38 which is just a plain improvement of the A20. The speed as you mentioned isn’t great, turn time will be similar to other medium bombers like the A20 or Ju 188, and the pilot dosn’t have and guns to use.

no need to look that far.

Just look at the Grizzly, the XA-38. it’s br3. and already got way, WAY better armament than the G4M, by a very big margin. only the bomb load is similar.

So, definitely br3, and not br4.

Grizzly is not an example to be used… it’s an undertiered aircraft that is only 3 because it is an event plane… this would be tech tree with otherwise BRIV armament referring to a20 sure su2 and pe3 have 6x 100kg but those are debatably overpowered for their BR

If an event plane, maybe. But that would also mean that people would have to stop complaining about grizzly being on the wrong tier. It sucks when people use corner cases as justification.

Japan needs really some real Bombers i dont really care if its Br 3 or 4 , br can be changed afterwards as well if needed!

I think the B 25 in Br V isnt really much faster and i know it hase a bigger Bomb load!

but have huge crew line ju 188

Is crew really that importent?
Except if you leave the aircraft!

Not necessarily…

Betty is… sloooooow… much more than Grizzly, has way less potent canons, too.

It’s a downgrade in every aspects compared to it.

Wouldn’t be too far fetched. And I doubt it would be too much looking at what allies and Soviets have in their br3…

The G4M1 is slower than a20 and has no pilot controlled armament. You can’t only use bomb load to justify the br, using such logic FW 190 D-12 will be on BR2 since it only has 450kg of bombs.

As long as people continue to use cannon size as an argument then that is the same thing… take nashorn for example.

So you only see nashorn but ignore marder 3h, stug 3f and na to that had been lower to br2?

Clearly they have backed up on that with the addition of nashorn, an open topped tank destroyer boasting an 88mm cannon at BRIV where you have the tiger H1… only to add a soviet tank with 122mm on BR3 on a tank id argue is better than kv2 primary for the reload.

Sure, the dauntless gets 1000lb plus 2 100lbs on BR2 but spread out ordnance such as 4 250kg or in xa 38s case 500lbs is much better.

It’s not like they can’t just lower its br. It’s common for them to not listening to player’s suggestion while adding stuff and then change it later.
Also it is weird that you use dev perspective on nashorn, but on xa38 you use your perspective.

The xa 38 in another’s words is an upgrade of the A20 which is BRIV… so why should it be three? And also is routinely agreed upon that it’s undertiered… but it’s obvious it hasn’t changed simply because it has event status.

The players also want nashorn to be lowered including myself for its disadvantage of being open topped and irrelevance at BRIV.
