Mines will be an issue soon

Mines need a counter, a skill could do the trick , with possibility to disarm or auto detect/for the engeneers

People use mines!? :face_with_monocle:

What makes you say they’ll become relevant?
Predicted lack of arty and bombs constantly wiping them?

Never saw people to actually mass use mines. I do not believe they will become a problem at current setting.

i only one person use a mine and he placed it directly infront of my tank while i was looking at him

Anti-personnel mines if used correctly might be a nice tool, but besides occasional (and rare) moments when some unlucky guy explodes they are hardly considered a major threat atm.

I wonder what makes OP think that they will be an issue.

yeah i wonder too

I can count all the kills I’ve gotten with mines on my hand. Like 3 with AP mines. Then my favorite was a Jumbo with my AT mine. But no the fact that they can be destroyed by sneezing on them makes them pretty balanced

Me too - and I don’t need any fingers or a thumb to do it! Did buy 1 of each in Moscow and used them a few times… not bothered since.

I have them on every single guy in Normandy. Barely get to use them

Thought that for the longest time as well. I now have mines on every single soldier I have. I hardly use them, biggest waste of bronze. Anything thrown near them sets the mines off and that makes them quite useless. There are some “safe” spots for tank mines and some vs inf but that wont make them an issue at all.

My master plan is to drive a truck or a jeep out to a convincing location near the enemy spawn, place a mine under it, and let nature take its course.

Now that is a great use of a mine sir!

I’m easily in double digits with AP mines. They are very situational though and I don’t see them becoming problematic.

My US squads all have mines, and I have used them with effect in defending points. Mostly the anti-personnel mines, although I have scored at least a couple kills with AT mines, including one lucky instance when I placed it at an intersection just for yucks. Soon after, a German recon tank ended up coming towards me, I attempted to combat it but it took out at least one of my guys as I recall and I don’t think I had any rolls of dynamite left. Well, the bugger barreled forth and I watched on a bit excitedly as I knew it was heading closer to my position, but also, closer to that mine, and I hollered out a laugh as it exploded.

So, yeah, I understand if mines are not much used, especially since it takes so long to access them, but they’re actually quite useful. A bit strange in terms of how they’re set, though. You just drop 'em on the ground, and after a timer of like 10-15 seconds, they’re considered active. I don’t THINK enemy explosives or artillery sets them off, however I’m not sure. Also, it might be so that putting down 2-3 rather quickly can lead to being unable to access the mines of your other squad members. That, or maybe I just screwed up and accidentally forgot to issue ALL my squadmates with mines… several times… which wouldn’t make sense because I’m quite thorough in ensuring that all infantry has mines, and each squad has at least one AT mine, two at most, with the rest being AP mines.

That said, OP is right, there ought to be something to be able to counter it, maybe even make it so that engineers can detect them sort of like pointmen in Rising Storm II: Vietnam whom can spot Vietcong traps.

Agreed, though if you’re defending a point I find them to be extremely effective. For example there’s that lighthouse point on a coastal map, there is only one entrance. Many times I’ve put 2-3 mines down, places like the base of the stairs outside, the top of the stairs at the entrance, at the bottom of the stairs inside, etc. Also an AT mine out front since sometimes dumb tankers drive up in their tank, get out, and render their tank totally vulnerable. Many times I’ve destroyed tanks left by that light house, not so much with mines but by just tossing a bundle of dynamite down and then boom. Easy-peasy. Tanks become as easy to pop as a pimple when the crew is out of them, even done so on the Moscow front with my fully upgraded scoped Kar98k. There was an ammo crate nearby and I was relatively safe and had helped in killing one of the popped-out tankers while someone else got the other, so I just started dumping my 5-round mag into it. After 15-20 rounds or so, boom, tank went bye-bye because nobody was in it. I had no grenades left.

Unironically genius, since people tend to sit and wait for their squad to fill the vehicle before driving. Sounds like a guaranteed way to take out an entire squad of infantry. If I remember to do so, I might just experiment with this… and then proceed to laugh my damn ass off if it actually works.

I have every soldier in my squad carry either a mine or betty. Theyre pretty strong if you know how to use them but the time to place and risk of exposure definitely balances things out.

They are particularly strong on objective points, especially if you put bettys in important doorways

Guys, shall I ask you, whats is the time limit while the AT/AP mines stay where you install them? Artillery/mortar can destroy them? or only if they explode? Thank you
