Apperantly German army did use the old 1908 Maxim. Not sure where the photo was taken but since his helmet is white, i assume it may of been late war and in a winter enviroment. Not sure what BR would this be suitable for, since it’s not very rapid firing and it only has legs. BR 1 comes to mind. Welcome further discussion!

a squad with a fixed main weapon? Why

Why, MG 34 is already great, we don’t need copy and paste in this sense

Would be a nice engineer squad
6 engineers
All armed with Gewher 98
Build the Maxim
And they can get the special helmets the Assault Engineers got

I think it would be a good idea if it were added to the first engineer squad as a fixed machine gun, since the Maxim is inferior to the MG34 in rate of fire, and thus there would be a fixed position machine gun more suited to lower BRs, for example the US could have the water-cooled Browning M1917 which was widely used in the Pacific campaign at the beginning of the war

I can remember the live action trailer for the Berlin open test there was a German using a Maxim machine gun.

Yes, and as you may have seen, the machine gun is positioned directly on the ground, without the sandbag structure. I recently created a topic about the structures where the engineer machine gun is built. If you are interested, take a look.

Honestly I’d like for an HMG tripod kit to be available for use by the Machine Gunner class let it be a Lafette Tripod MG34, 1908 Maxim, tripoded 30.cal Browning MG, etc ; where players are carrying the tripod itself and can deploy it quickly on windows or on the ground quickly and efficiently than relying on the build speed of an engineer’s hammer. That way the Gunner can redeploy his tripod MG into a different position half as fast as an engineer deconstructing and reconstructing in the heat of battle.
