The M3 grease guns are a interesting part of the low br weapons of the US TT, but notice some inconsistencies somewhat and each variant kinda plays the same in terms of rate of fire and spread and ect.
M3a1 isn’t quite Br 1 material, its ok at BR2.
(Edit): m 3 field mod could even be a bit higher than you suggest but if its BR 1 then yeah that’s fine.
As much as I would love a 550 rof Grease gun, I don’t think one was ever produced during WW2. I know their are some innaccurate rate of fire weapons in the game, but I think all the Grease gun variants in the game are fairly accurate. The one thing I would be in favor of is giving the M3 Field mod a bigger gun sight hole as it’s current version is much smaller then the rest of the varients.
As a USA main it’s still an ok offering compared with the Owen, the Hyde model 35, and the shotguns BUT I’ll admit it doesn’t stack up to the M1a1 Thompson (seeing as it’s BR2 now) or the Lanchester/ Lanchester 50 or the UD42. What it does have going for it is nice clean sights and it’s very controllable, you can say its bad which is fair considering there are several better, higher rof subguns (at BR2), but I still love the grease gun. The low Rof is very much a big part what it is and what it’s known for. IMO it makes a good secondary where you run a Thompson like the 1928a1 for short range and the m3a1 for mid and “long range”… You are probably right that its not great overall but it has redeeming quality’s it’s better at mid and “long range” than most SMG’s, so it’s not all bad. It really just depends on what you want out of it, I like it when guns have character.
Nope can’t say I agree about all the other weapons but shotguns do kinda suck. I still think the m3a1 is better than the Owen because the top load gets in the way and the Hyde model 35 has dispersion so bad it feels like the bullets come out sideways.
Problem is I got used to the M3a1 not the Owen, but yeah a bit like the Bren. This is pretty subjective for me because it doesn’t make too much sense IMO for Brits or Americans to use a gun used only by Aussie (in WWII) because the stats are a bit better. It’s cool but I don’t want to equip all my troops with it. In regards to the Hyde yep could do with some slightly better dispersion. BTW I’m not opposed to the field mod getting higher Rof but there should always be a factory version with the low rpm.
No i am not even good at Infantry game play , but with the Grease i kill relativ often even in high Br, the Grease gun is so easy to control even with soldiers who dont have a recoile reduction perk like Tankers and Pilots!
The M3 field mod is a MODIFIED grease gun in the video I linked with the time stamp and all state that some guys took a spring from a M1 garand to increase the rate of fire they’re vague how fast but they stated basically “it’s higher but still slow enough to easily to single and two round bursts”
