An 8-10 round bolt action rifle and unlike many others in br2 is not a straight pull rifle. Like the PIAT with the UK home guard the Metford was used by the Aussies in volunteer defense corp in case Japan landed in Melborn. I like weapons that fall outside the norm of well the 5 round bolt action rifle. would be good for event, bp or premium without or better with a squad more bad ass kangaroos.

The Lee–Metford (also known as the Magazine Lee–Metford or .303 Lee Metford) is a British bolt action rifle which combined James Paris Lee’s rear-locking bolt system and detachable magazine with an innovative seven-groove rifled barrel designed by William Ellis Metford. It replaced the Martini–Henry as the standard service rifle of the British Empire in 1888, following nine years of development and trials, but remained in service for only a short time until replaced by the Lee–Enfield.

Would it have charger clips reload and SMLE rifling upgrades?

According to steam it does not have a clip guide meaning it can’t use stripper clips, can you explain what the rifling upgrades are
So maybe it’s more br1 as it has to reload one bullet at a time
Maybe they could fudge it to give it the 3 round enbloc if the mosq or berth,

you could also reload it with a magazine since its detachable.

original rifles were very inaccurate so the rifles that stayed in service had their barrels replaced.

Thanks a lot of bolt actions I. Enlisted use stripper clips even if they had detachable magazine the svt38 is one of the few guns that does not do that

Sounds interesting I would bet it did not get it the metford was only in service for a short period before being replaced by the Enfield, second the vcd of australia was also using single shot martini rifles so I’d doubt there home guard regime TS were having there guns upgraded

I made a suggestion about 100 days about a Latvian contract rifle that was a hybrid of the Enfield and Metford.

Anyway, the rifle you suggested wouldnt be the first mag reloaded bolt-action rifle. the Axis VG.2 also has a quick detachable (G43) magazine, so it wouldnt be game breaking at all.

well its bolt action but not a straight pull
so its really a side grade from bolt action straight pulls
a lot of people dont understand how much of a draw back it is
to fire chamber a round then have to look down the sites again in order to fire at the same target or a new target its crazy how much it slows the rate of fire just look at a straight pull or a lever action or even the freaky pump action rifle and shotguns, Remington 14 pump action BR1 Rifle

The “Metford” part of the name comes from the rifle using Metford’s rifling system - this had 7 shallow rounded grooves that made it essentially polygonal.

this type of rifling was less prone to fouling from the black powder charge used with it was introduced.

However it was not very good with bullets fired at much higher velocities using smokeless powder - apparently the rifling wore out quickly and was useless after 6000 rounds - the Enfield rifling lasted 10,000.

As a result almost all service Metfords were refitted with Enfield rifled barrels, although many in reserve were not, and civilian ones were not - that was up to the owner.

every day i am astounded by the depth of knowledge of the community and there willingness to share it. so while no it cant use stripper clips i guess it did receive the barrel upgrade, thanks for the info.
it is amazine how many changes happened to rifles in only a few decades we went from
muzzle loaders to falling block weapons to bolt and sliding bolt from single shot to stripper clip to magazine fed to semi then full auto. all in a fraction of the time it too to develop from the first muskets to modern guns scarry

I would like to see this added.

British & Commonwealth soldiers need options other than the Springfield.

My grandfather was in the Volunteer Defence Corps. I believe he had a Lee Enfield Mk III
