According to a 1906 hunting catalog of Kanamaru gun shop, it’s chambered with .40-72 WCF and the barrel is shorter(26 inch).
There are two other customizations of this rifle. The first one(百十六號之二) has octagon barrel, the second one(百十六號之三)has octagon barrel and double stage trigger, it provides better accuracy and lower fire rate.
Here’s how a Winchester 1895 with 26 inch octagonal barrel looks like.
Even thought the original .40-72 Winchester 1895 has better sight and hit power compare to the Russian Winchester, it can not reload with stripper clips, which makes it reasonable for being a BR 1 weapon, specially with the double stage trigger.
Unfortunately, I think most people would prefer for this weapon to be BR 2, just because of the maintained ADS while firing, and rate of fire.
To compensate, this weapon could receive some other outlier stat to compensate the reload speed, such as higher damage?
I think this weapon makes the most sense as a BR 2 Event or Battle Pass weapon, with the Japanese Tech Tree receiving a Siamese/Thai or Northern Chinese Mannlicher M1888, which would perform similarly to the other TT advanced action rifles.
That make sense to me, despite the barrel is shorter than the Russian Winchester, the .40-72 WCF cartridge(10.3x66mm) will still have higher damage, it might have similar damage to the Berdan II(10.75×58mmR), consider it’s a repeating rifle, the damage could be about 30-32.
Even thought this cartridge is much larger than 7.62x54mmR, it’s lower velocity makes it have lower recoil, with the double stage trigger I mentioned, it’s would be easier to aim.
The rate of fire could be about 69,which is still very impressive.
Compare to the Russian Winchester, the only disadvantage is reloading speed, but it still would be a good option for BR 2.
