The only damage I managed to do was transmision and it took me like 5 shots.
So is it possible at all to destroy fully functional KV with Pz III J?
Only if you are able to blow up the engine, as far i tried is impossibile do it with the pz3j frontally, maybe the pz3j1 can
in theory yes, but in practice no.
according to
pz3j can penetrate 76mm armor at 0° so you can theoretically penetrate it from sides, but slightest angle makes armor over 76mm.
also you can disable its engine from behind, but idk about killing it
Only Pzgr 40 in war thunder
You can destroy KV-1 from a side. At least it works in a practice mode.
I wasn’t able to pen it’s engine deck. Only tramslision and only slightly (yellow marker and really poor post pen dmg).
Can you send picture where you are aiming?
(I assume you are in game now)
Apparently I didn’t thought about shooting lower side plate. I don’t know why to be honest.
Thanks for help.
Drive into KV and go out there to throw explosion packs.
Even better if the KV becomes blocked.
I like that tactic. But on the new BR system, tactics will disappear from the game and there will only be a clash of mindless masses.
I can read. This answer is the most adequate. Because there is no way to knock out the KV from the initial tank.
I sometimes hear from people that you can frontally pen a KV with the J.
Feels like a hoax by Soviet mains.
Probably people thinking you get APCR in Enlisted like in WT.
In other words
I just tried it 2 times and nope, no pen.
Maybe angle was too big but I don’t think so.
from war thunder
he is penetrating cause he is low distance away from the tank with perfect angle.
also look at these penetration angles and values
you basically must come in perfect alignment with perfect height to penetrate it. if you have different height you basically automatically gain few degrees when you shoot below tracks. if you are close to tank you have higher chance of penetrating it. also if he is slightly angled you wont be penetrating that KV.
So I have to face a completelly brain dead KV driver. Sadly most of them I’ve encountered do some basic manouvers.
