Hey everyone! As we all know, the damage of the FG-42 rifle series was raised to 15.3 units about a year ago, and this made it possible to one-shot soldiers wearing cuirasses with vitality perks at distances up to 30 meters.
But at longer ranges
, the cuirass bonus still works and saves them from an inevitable one-shot. And that’s considering that the FG-42 I and FG-42 II have lower accuracy, and their recoil pattern pulls the weapon sideways — meaning it’s inherently harder to shoot accurately at long range with them than with the AVT/AVS. On top of that, in this update the Soviet Union got the AVS-36-20, which has a similar rate of fire to the FG-42 II, the same magazine size, but its damage is 15.8 units — which it doesn’t even need, whereas the FG series could really use it. This wouldn’t break the balance: players without cuirasses would still get one-shotted just as before, but the unfair cuirass bonus would stop saving people and giving them an unjustified advantage for nothing.
P.S. We could just remove the cuirass bonus altogether, but since that hasn’t happened over several years, it would probably be better to balance German and Japanese weapons with this bonus in mind so they can remain competitive.

Accuracy is important, of course, but I think one-shot damage in any conditions would definitely be more needed than a bayonet and accuracy. I’ve got nothing against the bayonet, but that’s another topic. First damage, then bayonet, IMHO

So our job is to voice the problem and show support for fixing it. Beyond that, nothing depends on us.
This topic has nothing to do with balance against the Americans - things are more or less even there already.
We could have managed without this, but nobody’s wanted to cut the cuirass bonus for a long time now.
And that could solve a lot of faction balance issues, but alas.
In what sense?
If you mean introducing body armor for everyone — that still won’t solve the problem, and it’ll look ridiculous, to say the least. Besides, fast-firing SMGs like the PPS/PPSh won’t suffer from it, and neither will the new AVS-36-20. It would be easier to just not introduce this nonsense and remove it from the Soviets. Or balance the current stuff with it in mind.
Nobody knows exactly whats happening other than the devs being aware of armor being the most disliked mechanic by the community and that they are working on something.
Just be patience, I bet the next big update is gonna adress it.
Got you. Well, for now I’m going off the current reality, and this suggestion fits it. Ideally, of course, they’d just remove this mechanic altogether.
don’t care. kill guys with placebo armor just the same as anyone else… find the constant obsession over body armor and relating it to balance insufferable.
