I would like to downgrade the German rifle G43 to level 3.
At present, all four factions
Only Germany and Japan have level 3. The loading speed of the rifle is slow.
If the G43 is lowered to level 3 Then, semi-automatic rifles with enhanced German-grade 3 environmental protection features can be developed.
The game shouldn’t be balanced around weapons that are obviously overperforming, the same reason why people using the Xa-38 as an excuse to move certain planes down is tupid.
I would add tho, with the current power level of BR2 and BR3 SMGs, I could see guns like G41 moving to BR2 and G43 and other mag reload rifles move to BR3.
Not that I am actually asking for this, rather my point is that some meta SMGs are vastly overperforming in low/mid BR compared to rifles.
One PPS43 is worth 3 G41 in firepower.
BR2 Thompson, Mas38, BR2 MP35, PPS43 and other rapid fire SMGs are so much better than all bolt actions and mid power semi autos, that before talking about rifle balance we should fix SMG meta first.
Grease Gun, MP40, FNAB - those are BR2 SMGs, slow dps in order to give rifles a chance to fire back.
Everything above 700 rpm should move to BR3 or BR4.
Look, any damage above 14 units is a guaranteed one-shot. And while other nations have enough to pull it off, the Germans don’t have enough to one-shot cuirasses. For the US this isn’t an issue, since 14+ damage kills them anyway. But honestly, for balance it would just be better to remove the body armor altogether.
Actually, this wouldn’t create any imbalance, because damage above 13.5 is lethal - but hey, you know better. I’d go even further and rebalance the semi-auto rifles in the tech tree entirely. At BR 3, you could move all rifles down to 10-round magazines while keeping their characteristics. Then at BR 4, introduce semi-auto rifles with 15–20 round magazines and damage of 15.3–16.0. At the same time, you could lower the damage of automatic rifles to 13.2 (like current machine guns), and raise machine gun damage to 16 units. The reasoning is that machine guns generally have longer barrels. And for semi-autos, we’ll just go with the convention that semi-automatic fire uses less powder energy.
I agree one thousand percent. We’ve been saying this for two years now, though, and nothing’s changed. The only encouraging thing is that the developers acknowledged they’re giving a bonus advantage. Acknowledgment is the first step toward fixing it.
Totally agree on the fundamentals — but I still think damage should be balanced around the regular classes. Unfortunately, flamethrower units and paratroopers have been nerfed into the ground and are pretty much useless.
