I think that sniper rifles need a buff and this is how devs can do it

I’m currently training USSR and USA snipers (SVT-38 and Sniper M1 Garand).
And I noticed the great issue with semi-auto sniper rifles - if they are being used from far away - they mostly need a headshot to make a oneshot-kill.

The reason of it well known balance debuff of all SF rifles so they doing ~half of the damage compared to manual reload rifles while having the same ammo and ± the same barrel length and this works fine in close-middle range fights, but for long range sniping it make snipers bring less impact to the game and then provoke teammembers to post messages like “stop being afk and push the point”.

Previously I proposed to buff snipers with adding scout ability:

But I guess this approach was way too hard to implement.

So now I want to propose an alternative way to buff snipers via buffing SF sniper rifles:
We can’t just give ~x2 damage to SF sniper rifles, because they will be abused in close-mid range battles, so I see a bit more complex way - give a sniper a *****(five stars) perk to have a double dmg while aiming through the scope using sniper SF rifle.

I think devs already have a way to track if person is aiming, because they could set recoil based on it, so it shouldn’t be a big problem to implement, meanwhile it will boost BRIII+ snipers performance greatly.

So how do you think, can we make long range SF snipers great again?

i think sniper squads should be removed and only be an option in normal squad trees, with radioman maybe having 2 possible snipers or someshit

did you ever stop and think that maybe the semi-auto snipers are not meant for the same ranges as bolt action snipers

Why so?
They got the same ammo and same barrel length.
Also optics basically is almost the same, but nerfed for soviet rifles.
Otherwise we have a weird moment: all classes got better gear in higher BR and only sniper got worse state in exchange for meaning-less selecting fire mode, since distanse is one of the main weapons of a sniper. And so sniper just can’t compete with other far more powerful classes…

Isn’t this a joke? 7 dmg within 300 meters against 18.1 for manual with the same bullet…
If this is okay state - they should just for real remove sniper squads from high BR and allow assaulters to use those guns, since two of them are basically assault rifles with x2-x4 zoom

Yes, in close-middle range, but damage drops significantly with bigger distance.

Staying beyond medium ranges is too far to be actually impactful. You need to stay actually semi close to be able to respond to situations at the objective.

ammo means nothing in this game, barrel length means nothing in this game, you’re played Enlisted not ARMA

If you want long range sniping, use a bolt action rifle

if you want improved medium range fighting, use a semi automatic sniper

Yes, I’m saying the “sniper” class does not always do “sniping”, its just a specialty that gets access to scoped weapons

I would rather see snipers getting a 6th squad member together with the vitality perk.

Kinda frustrating when SMGs kill you fast at long range because you have 35% less HP than your target - but you dont one hit down them.

Talking about bolt action sniper rifles - i think the other nations could also appreciate a BR3 rifle like Lee Enfield since that one has bolt action damage, accuracy, a great scope and reloads with a magazine.

Remove the sniper squad… also why use sniper m1 garand over the enfield? It’s second best to the fg 42 which there isn’t much competition tbh.

I have seen pictured of long barrel mannlicher rifles with side mounted scopes that allow for clip reloads.

Not quite a magazine reload, but defined faster than “one by one” reloads.

Now imagine a WW1 Trench Mauser 98 with its 25 round magazine and a side mounted pre war scope.

I bet alot of rather unique rifles exist.

germany has a few sniper carcano rifles with full clip reloads

Its a bit childish that this is your first response to the scoped PTRS, but yeah lets go. Scoped Solothurn would be awesome.
