I spent approximately $1,500 to acquire all the squads

Last year, I participated in a event and only obtained two squads

This event is equivalent to starting from scratch

You can see that the squad is no longer in the list of boxes

I initially only intended to try and acquire the MG45 and MG39 squads, but they were the last ones to appear

Are you happy at least?

Thats banned question for enlisted players

I’m very confused. I can only say that I don’t feel happy. After calming down, I wonder why I don’t use this money to do something more meaningful

This is the reason I’m against gambling. It is easy to stop calculating in the spur of the moment.

Indeed, I saw my friend get the MG39 squad, and I really wanted it too. As a result, it was only after two MG squads appeared

I can relate as a wt player

The Golden Chest contains around ~123 prem and event sqauds (roughly 2/3 prem, 1/3 event) … let’s calculate with 120 since OP said he already got two (unless i misunderstood it):
1500/120 = 12.5 USD per squad … 13500 gold is ~100 USD … 13500/100*12.5 = ~1688 gold per squad … a squad in less than 6 chest.

From the calculation side it sounds nice … I would aslo add that that it probably dropped tons of event/bp weapons , soldiers, vehicles too … tho yeah, it’s a lots of money none the less in one go.

Not sure how much time or money it would have cost to get all normally tho, honeslty probably more, just noone realizes when they buy them constantly that the cost adds up slowly.

Yep, as long as you have money to spend. These boxes really are a great deal.

But gambling is always such an easy target for people who feel the need to signal their virtue.

I remember the old days when we “had” to buy the remaining BP rewards for gold if we had FOMO (i know, i have FOMO and bought everything up even before i became a Helper and later a CM) … and usually we got 2-3 tickets per season per category and there were 16+ weapons, 8+ vehicles and soldiers (since we had 6 campaigns in the end) … and it took more than 10k gold per season to get all.

So yeah, i think it’s not really that bad of a deal, simply just the perception of it is bad, since it’s gamble and focusing on one type of reward is much easier and in that way, it’s easy to think of it as a scam.

I have no problem in spending to support the game (I did so myself a lot).

But I hate randomness. Especially since we used to have the freedom of choice before.

Now you say what he got for the price isn’t so bad, but the problem is he mentioned:

He wanted that specific squad. Without the artificial FOMO enforced by gaijin, he could’ve just… bought it directly, if a choice shop was available, for event squads. Would’ve cost way, waaay less.

Of course, it’s lucrative for gaijin to do so at the expense of the playerbase…

It’s just extremely crass.

I joined the game just before the last BP store closed, and I was equally eager to use coins to buy quite a few items at that time

These chests just aren’t for people on a limited budget, though.

But honestly, I don’t see any problem with that. Event and BP items can already be obtained through silver chests. And the only thing these gold chests offer is premium squads. Which players can always buy separately. (For some, you’ll just have to wait for them to return.)
Cosmetics aren’t new; they’re tied to either premium or event squads. You don’t need this chest to get them.

He didn’t have to gamble with money, as silver boxes already exists.

Not to mention. The existence of chests doesn’t rule out the possibility that there might be another way to obtain past event squads in the future - without RNG aspect.

The devs could always run a similar order event we have now, but with squads.

But for some strange reason, most people see chests as something that directly rules out the possibility of something like that. Which simply isn’t true.
But instead of pushing for another way to get those items, they just attack the chests.

It’s not.

I have to say, my luck is actually quite good. In my memory, I have won at least 5000 gold coins twice, and I have also obtained many useful weapons. At least twice out of 50 draws, I have acquired at least 6 squads. Lastly, because English is not my native language, I used a translation software, so the meaning may be slightly inaccurate. However, I tried to use simple words to accurately express my meaning

Two of my friends have limited budgets, and the outcome of the box left them feeling disappointed

There’s another point I have to mention. It feels like decorations from Japan appear quite frequently

Are you joking or you hid under a rock all this time?

You already forgot how much the community pushed back trying to KEEP the gold order shop?

The community pushed a lot all right, but gaijin being gaijin, decided, again, that FOMO and gambling randomness is the way to go, no matter what the consumer base wants or not.

So… yeah, it’s quite natural many attack those shit chests.

It’s a very bad system. Lucrative for gaijin, no doubt!

But, crass.

Well, I didn’t. I was actually the one who spoke out the loudest against its removal.
You can go back and read those discussions again.

But I don’t see any correlation between the removal of the GO Store and chests.

Not to mention, the GO Store wasn’t some great solution that fixed everything. It didn’t include past event rewards. It only contained BP items from the last ±3 seasons. And once they were removed from the GO Store, there was simply no way to get them anymore.

So it wouldn’t solve most of the problems people are complaining about here. You definitely wouldn’t be able to get MG39 squad that way.

It would.

Simply by updating the content being available in it, it’s really easy… they did it multiple times when it was still there.

Nothing would have prevented adding event squads in it either.

Gaijin would keep receiving money, the playerbase would be happy, and Gaijin would have better reputation than now, at least. Only wins.

Instead… there’s this. Gaijin still make money… but the playerbase is in majority unfavorable, and Gaijin certainly does not have a great reputation.

I doubt you were louder and more critical than I was (and still am) about it, thought.

I was going to spend more money on them but instead I got Hotline Miami 2, Rain World and Barony for the price of 2 chests on Steams summer Sale. I was going to get more chests then saw how garbage it was if you wanted a squad. .07 for the good ones.
