And yeah, as far as pickups, it’s a common tele configuration with the slanted single coil bridge pickup, and the neck single coil “lipstick” pickup.
Awesomely the neck position has been routed for a humbucker, which means you can actually fit a 9v battery along with the pickup into the routed slot in the body under the pickguard.
So the first mod I’m making is adding an electro Harmonix LPB-1 boost circuit directly into the guitar, swapping the volume knob with a push/pull knob to turn the boost on/off. And the included output jack is a TRS “normally open” jack, meaning it’s already suited to cut power to the internal circuit when no cable is plugged in, saving battery power when not in use.
Somone needs to create a USB unit to charge that stuff. I get super annoyed when I have to replace my pickup battery. About as annoyed when I break a string. I have a few 100 and honestly even the nice ones break just as easy. The guitar Gods of the 70’a use to use sub 10 even a small 9. I have brick hands so I snap girly strings pretty easy.

I actually saw a guitar recently, can’t remember the brand (probably an EMG pickup) with a built-in rechargeable battery and a USB C port between the pickups. Not a terrible idea.
Since I run a custom pedal rig, I’m toying with the idea of just sending 9-12v up the cable to the guitar. Wouldn’t work outside of my rig, but when do i play that specific guitar somewhere else? (Hint: never). No more battery replacements.
My peddles are a rats nest. I would really love to get one of those fancy Boss pedals with all the cool features but I have not seen one below 200. I have some 8’s I bought in a bulk sale of Nashville studio strings had all kinds of weird stuff in there, the 8’s are almost too fine and snap too easy if I hit them hard. I have tried to wire higher gauges lower down and one time wired the guitar with 32+ (It does not work). I at least got stringing guitars down to a science with the loop in the start. I realize bass is for poor people who cannot afford strings. 4 strings all almost unbreakable gauges. But peddles are kind of a bane to me. I have 10 od them 3 of those are multieffect peddles. I was tying to get this sound with a distortion Fuzz combo because I love the sound Harrison creates. You can hear that fuzz at the start.
Or the legendary 3 cords that make Punk Punk. I can teach anyone to play this in like 10 minutes.
My favorite thing about guitar is specific sounds like Joe Walsh, In the city is another example. He is so good he plays that shit without any distortion. There are people who are natural tonalists. He makes a guitar sing. Like a magic weapon.
Imagine being a band like the Eagles and shining after they were successful. Count the strings! 3 guitarists 1 bassist. Frye on 12 Aco Felder 6x12 2 neck electric Walsh 6 string. Then I think the bassists is playing a 5-6 string as well. The sound that creates is of course legendary. We can all thank Linda Ronstadt (Dolly was a treasure but Linda is a national treasure. Spot the legends in the video. If you know even the smallest thing about 70’s sound there is some special players in the backup band. 3 specifically! SB, AG, RH. All the Eagles do not count.

Some of the most famous guitars are famous for their sound because they are so thrashed and worn in. I forgot whos famous bass I saw ages ago but I was so many different pieces. I think it might be Leland Sklar. Of course The Fool is a cool one too.
That is called the reality of not knowing to use epoxy, then not putting it back together correctly. But I stopped playing it after I got 4 guitars that are better. But I played it so much the paint red and black paint markers got warn off (Easier to read looking down and not at the face of the bridge) 3,5,7, 12 15e The white one next to it is a early 1970’s SG it has a sound for sure. Especially with modern pickups. It has patina and its a heavy wood so I do not want to mess with it. My other ones have nice standard gloss finishes and woodgrains. Painting them would ruin them.
