How the fuck do you hit anything with these 100lb bombs

they only really give you 2 of em…

and don’t tell me to “go to youtube” cause those schmucks are only ever using 250kg’s which are nearly 3 times larger…

my bad not 3 times but more then 5 times larger… nearly 6 times at 551lb

SB2M? ETA - oh - the P-51C?? I gave up on that plane in the CBT - not worth playing it. Have it now but no point taking it out - P-38 does everything better.

But like all allied CAS - guesswork and practice - aim for infantry 'cos killing tanks is even more rare!

You need to know the maps - the likely areas of approach and spawn points.

iv barely been able to get 1 kill in over a hundred drops… iv honestly gotten more kills with my guns on the plane…

Germany has better bombers over Normandy and the US has heavier tanks…

Sounds about right for the world today!

Yeah - was thinking you meant 100kg bombs in the Soviet Moscow bomber - updated my post - P51C is a waste of time.

really o.o’ i always thought it was germany with the stronger tanks like they’re pretty infamous for having some behemoth tanks

i thought the US had air superiority with its fleet of bombers like the B-17’s and B-36’s

Germany has better CAS in all campaigns   :anguished:

no B-36’s in WW2!! lol and it was the fighters that gave air superiority - not bombers - bombers were the bait!

For a good (but long) in-depth read I recommend this - it’s a fairly big PDF download but just packed full of analysis about the economic, political, and structural and historical issues that resulted in the LW falling apart in 1944:

Strategy for Defeat - The Luftwaffe 1933-1945: https://apps.dtic.mil/sti/pdfs/ADA421966.pdf

guess your right the b-36 was only used for recon but on paper they could hold up to 87,200lb of bombs, nearly 10 times the capacity of the US’s largest bomber of the time.

Oh it certainly saw service as a bomber, although it never dropped one in anger - but the main reason it wasn’t a bomber in WW2 is that it didn’t have its first flight until 1946 - just a little late for the war!!

Learn shallow dive bombing. It’s not great but it’s doable once you learn how to eyeball it

iv tried strafe bombing imagining the drop curve like this

but when i drop it im not even sure if im getting it anywhere near where im aiming…

too easy to overshoot that way, cut your throttle to ~50% (or honestly lower considering how powerful your engine is) and dive at a 45-50 degree onto the target.

i usually drop throttle to minimum when coming in but still im still kinda clueless to like what kinda distance and altitude i should drop the bomb at for it to hit what im aiming at like if i were aiming directly for a capture point when should i drop the bomb 150m away 100m? and at what general altitude?

honestly you just learn to eyeball it

for strafe bombing it always follows a general distance as long as you know how far away from the target to drop the bomb will always follow the curve above before just going straight down towards its target

there’s not really any way to practice this because your by yourself in practice…

bomb tanks

I’ve had trouble pulling out from dives that steep

if anything this is the only thing iv found that even slightly explains kind of what to do…

If you’re high enough and don’t wait too long to drop and pull out it shouldn’t be an issue.

If I’m that high then I lose accuracy - I’m sure it can be done, but I never figured out the technique so much prefer to use rockets.
