Why not? I guess it would be pretty nice buff. But I don’t think it would change a lot.
Well Panther armor without its flat turret armor is without a doubt an increase in protection.
60mm is quite weak tho.
I just simply want to use SPGs more, but my min max mentality truly cripples my options.
You can still overpressure the Jagdpanzer IV, just from the bottom instead of the top, you can also do it on the side if you can’t pen the side with an AP round for some reason.
Also the Hetzer doesn’t have a nasty shot trap that can be easily used to destroy the transmission as well as killing crew and setting the tank on fire if it doesn’t just get outright destroyed.
The problem is that just because you CAN succeed with it at its current BR doesn’t mean that it belongs there. I can run around and destroy every enemy tank spawned in with my Stug III F, but it doesn’t really mean that the Stug should remain in BR3.
The bottom shot is extremely tricky since it’s so low to the ground. And the issue you brought up with better seem to be more than fine for a br 3 tank.
Well, Jagdpanzer IV L70 does bounce sometimes IS2 shots at long range, so 80mm of armor is not bad in BR5, and L70 can more or less defeat even the most armored vehicles in this game.
I think its a bit underwhelming, but in BR4 it would be the best anti tank BR4 vehicle in the game.
Again, it has 190mm of pen
It’s a really easy shot with the 105 Sherman, which is the best American tank at BR3. Also the M8 Scott can just pen the front, and that’s the best American tank at BR2
the panther has the same gun, doesn’t it? It’s quite simmlar to the panzer IV long barrel and the stug G, where the stug G trades it’s turret for losing the 50mm turret weakspot
It has the same firepower as the Panther, a slightly better frontal armor profile, but is stuck as a casemate. I see it as a side-grade to the Panther, which is a BR4 tank.
The main reason I see it as a side-grade is because of its super thin side armor. Because it’s a casemate you have to turn the whole tank to shoot different targets more often than not, and even against BR3 tanks you really don’t need to angle much to give an enemy a clean shot through your side.
It would be a better tank hunter, but it would only be good in the hands of a situationally aware player, and even then nothing saves it from being bombed.
Depends on what you mean with simmilar.
Panzer IV 7.5cm L48 has 140mm of penetration
Panther 7.5cm L70 has 190mm of penetration
Idk, I don’t find this vehicle to be underperforming other BR5 vehicle in any significant way. Quite contrary. It has its own advantages compared to other vehicles.
I just don’t see the need for it to be BR4.
Every tank can get destroyed by planes - this should not count as an argument at all, otherwise you could claim that Tiger in BR1 is fair because planes exist.
Frontal armor protection specifically mostly matters against other tanks.
As a matter of fact, Panther and such side armor would have been even thinner if AT rifles had less penetration.
There’s no doubt that the Panzer IV/70 (V) and Jagdpanzer IV would have the advantage in a tank duel, not an advantage that instantly guarantees a victory but an advantage that makes the tank worth using.
But when you’re fighting infantry 90% of the time, then being in a casemate with atrocious side armor suddenly doesn’t become as appealing anymore. Not to mention that BR4 AT launchers will just go through your front plate anyways.
Its performance against tanks is important, but so is the performance against infantry. That’s why the Na-To is abysmal dogshit that deserves to be dropped to BR1, or why the TT Spitfires are useless.
The Ferdinand is now BR V
Since there are already existing topics about the Pz.IV/70’s, i will close this as a duplicate
