The Panzer IV/70(A) is another side-grade to the Panzer IV(H), trading the turret for a slightly better armor profile and an upgrade in firepower. It retains the same weak spots as its turreted brother, making it killable even by most BR2 tanks it would face.

Well, it’s not fine being on BR 4 actually. There’s no reason to use this vehicle on BR 4 over other BR 4 vehicles such as Panthers and Tiger 1 H. If it’s only marginally bad compared to other vehicles on BR 4 then it should remains on BR 4 but it really isn’t. Normally, this kind of TD vehicles usually have some kind of advantage be it better armor, better reload speed or even lower BR but this vehicle is just straight up downgrade. We already know that the armor on this thing is very flawed and even BR 3 vehicles will have no problem penetrating it but what i want to talk about is it’s main gun.
Compared to the Panther, the Panzer IV/70(A) not only gets the same reload speed but actually has a worse gun depression value and less ammo than the Panther. That’s awful considering that it’s a casemated TD without turret. And if you think about it, it really is more fitting on BR 3 rather than on BR 4. What you get is basically just Panzer 4 H level protection vehicle without turret but a better gun with worse gun depression. There’s a reason that this vehicle is only 4.3 BR on Warthunder despite it having basically the same gun as Panther.
