Guerrilla I Squads For Tech Tree

Currently, there is only one Guerrilla squad available in each tech tree, which unlocks the Guerrilla II soldier via a BR 2 SMG or Shotgun unlock:

USSR: PPSh-41 Obrez
Allies: Ithaca 37
Axis: PPSh-41 Obrez (No Front Sight)
Japan: FN Browning Auto-5

This suggestion is for a Guerrilla I Squad, which would also be a tech tree unlock. Guerrilla Is would be able to use the same weapons as Guerrilla IIs, and would have a maximum 20/16/17 perk distribution (Guerrilla II is 21/16/19). Their default perk would be +20% Climbing Speed.

These squads would be unlocked via a BR 1 suppressed bolt-action rifle. These weapons have 80% as much damage as the standard variants (which is true for Mosin M91/30 and Mosin M91/30 BraMit), and can only be equipped by Guerrilas:

POTENTIAL EVENT & PREMIUMS

When a new squad type is introduced in a major update, they are typically accompanied by two premium squads in a bundle, and two event squads in a 10-13 stage event. For potential premium and event squads, bolt-action and semi-automatic rifles with silencers can be used. Any Semi-Auto, like SMGs and ARs with suppressors, will lose 0.2 damage compared to the regular variant:

USSR: SVT-40 BraMit (BR 4)

12.5 (15.1) Damage
350 Rate of Fire
10 Rounds
340m/s Muzzle Velocity (7.62x54mmR BraMit)
2.5 Second Reload Speed

Allies: Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.1 Parker-Maxim (BR 2)

17.6 (20.3) Damage
60 (69) Rate of Fire
10 Rounds
320 m/s Muzzle Velocity (.303 Corporal Ridley Experimental)
3.8 Second Reload Speed

Axis: Gewehr 43 L26 (BR 4)

(no image available) The L26 Suppressor was compatible with the StG 44, Kar 98K, and later production models of the Gewehr 43.

12.5 (15.1) Damage
350 Rate of Fire
10 Rounds
335m/s Muzzle Velocity (7.92mm Nahpatrone)
2.3 Second Reload Speed

Japan: Type 38 Rifle Hibino Silencer (BR 1)

  • Honestly this sounds just like a 5 man rifleman squad with no engineer.
  • The starter perk doesnt synergise with their weapon of choice imo. Assaulter 1s used to have climbing speed as their starter perk and makes sense on assaulters since you wanna rush into buildings and over walls and spray em down with the smgs, but no one is doing that with some silenced bolt action rifles.
  • I think this is a very unique idea but would be sort of doomed at the start and people would just level up the squad so they can have a second guerilla squad.
  • Then, having a bunch of teammates cycling engineer-less squads doesnt make anyone happy either tbh.

I think silenced rifles are cool, but should be implemented some other way.

You read the OP, right?

“Guerrilla Is would be able to use the same weapons as Guerrilla II”

So they would be unlocked from these unique weapons, but could use SMGs as well.

Sorry ur right, I forgot to specify, until you unlock the guerilla 2. The other points i stand on still, no hard feelings.

Let’s address the rest of your points then:

  • Of course they don’t have an Engineer, Guerrilla IIs certainly don’t either. But you can still fill up the squad with 5 bolt-action, shotgun or SMG users (like Guerrilla IIs) and enter the grey zone with them. This is what Guerrilla squads are used for.

  • Guerrillas are inherently used to access the enemy grey zone. To access it quicker, a perk like increased climbing speed would allow for that. A BR 1 suppressed rifle would still be plenty useful at medium range in a grey zone, since you aren’t losing too much damage at range, and the suppressor will still reduce threat-level from nearby bots. Not to mention, Guerrillas inherently use two weapon slots. They could carry an SMG of any BR, as well as a suppressed rifle.

  • There isn’t really any other way to introduce suppressed bolt-action rifles at BR 1 in a nice way. There also is a limited quantity of BR 1 SMGs that could be added for Guerrillas Is to be unlocked from. Since Guerrilla IIs can inherently use bolt-action rifles, I don’t see why using a bolt-action rifle that is unique and contextual to Guerrillas is a bad thing.

  • The squad would be just like any other squad with multiple of that type unlockable within a tree: you could still eventually fill it with Guerrilla IIs. Should we remove Assaulter IIs and IIIs, Rifleman Is and IIs because the Assaulter IV and Rifleman III squads exist?

  • A lot of players already don’t build rally points, even if an Engineer can be placed on that squad. It’s a problem with teaching players how to play the game, and using that as a reason to not add something without Engineers is fallacious and anti-progress.

This is that Springfield silencer; it was used in World War I—there are records of it.

I can write essays too, even though I really didnt expect I would have to.

  • I know what the guerillas do, dont worry, no need for explanation.
  • Yup, I still know what they do. Yes, including silenced rifles in the game at br1 is a great idea, I have said that. Thumbs up from everyone for that!
  • There are other ways. For example, we can introduce them as riflemen only weapons which would give them a niche in low br just like they have it in br3 with launchers and br5 with SFs. We could even give em as the riflemen 1 squad weapon if we even dare move some things around in the TT.
  • No, we will not remove riflemen 1 or 2 or assaulters 2 or 3. They are, however, generic squads that can be outfitted and setup in different ways and are one of the basic building blocks of a players army. Guerillas are hyperspecialised in game and irl.
  • Yes, a portion of the playerbase doesnt care about rally points, no need for name calling. Adding more squads without engineers would not help, although yes, that is a side effect/point and doesnt directly comment on the idea, but it does correlate.

I will repeat myself and say that silenced rifles are cool, and you have given great detailed examples of rifles we could add. I just believe there are better ways to do so. No need to get worked up, im actually mostly saying your idea is cool but that i would change the execution.

Maybe to the squads, but no to silence weapons in TT. They should remain as event, battlepass, a d preimum weapons

I understood this sentiment when the silenced PPSh was going to be added, meaning the Soviets would be the only ones to have access to one.

But this is a class-exclusive item, they’re all relatively equal in strength, and they have a significant tradeoff in damage for what could be used instead. What makes that consequential?

Making a rifleman exclusive weapon that serves no purpose for their intended role is counterproductive. Guerillas are supposed to be silent and avoid open engagements, Riflemen are not. Riflemen, be they squad or not, put bodies on the zone, which a silenced weapon works against because people will use them as pseudo guerillas.

Not a rifleman niche. Most infantry classes get access to SF rifles.

lol. Can’t have suppressed smg in tech tree but can have suppressed rifles that were almost definitely not issued regularly.

The irony.

What about only having suppressed stuff as event or premium? Where are the masses who complained about suppressed ppsh being in tech tree.

Don’t worry, I’ll be writing a Guerrilla III suggestion too.

I graciously await to see the difference in voting… however perhaps making it only available for guerillas is enough to smooth the complaints.

A huge part was that it was exclusive to a single faction, it being the soviets didn’t help it go ever better either. This is for all at once not one for however long it takes the devs to add another one.

I don’t think the people will like this remenber what happend to the silenced PPSH 41 people cried saying that silencers should stay unique and not on the TT I suppose that because It was going to be a soviet gun is the reason of why they cried if It would be for other nation they would be ok then the last 3 soviet guns they gave on Major updates 1 of them was a new gun and the other 2 just copy paste with 20 round mags instead of 15 rounds
