Got to play with a FG42 for first time

Picked it up from a deceased German - I’m pretty sure he wasn’t just taking a rest.

Dunno how many stars it had, but it had 38 rounds available.

What a dream!! I imagine it must have been heavily improved because it seemed to have ZERO recoil at all - auto and semi. Was easily hitting targets in Lehrner Bahnhof 1st cap right as they moved out of spawn from the edge of the first cap - I swear the front post never budges so much as an arc second from any shots!

A few OHK’s at long range even

N0 wonder people rave about it - both for and against!

the only downside is that it’s not a carbine

Welcome to the party…it is like cocaine you will become addicted.

just my opinion tho:

i rarely use it. used it alot 1 month befor the ammo change in them. its a good gun, but i belive its overated. equiped a full squad with it months ago, got bored of it in a few weeks.

imo, they way i play, its inferior to many other guns avaiable both for free and pay squads. but, thats only my opinion.

too much recoil (spray?) on full auto per bullet fired.
too litle ammo avaiable for the way i play, not a huge fan of the sights.

but anyway. i belive its overated for what it is.
the stable one shot kill on semi, its nice, but its the same as on any other premium semi gun, or non premium upgraded one.

its a powerfull gun, dont get me wrong, but aint for the way i use to play.

The AVS doesn’t have the stability - I’ve got them upgraded oin Moscow and Berlin.

Glad to know.

A qualification - the AVS isn’t BAD - fully upgraded it is pretty good on semi auto - but it has some noticeable recoil - it isn’t rock solid like I found the FG in this case.

The AVS is okay the SVT is so much better!

The AVS is generally compared to the FG42 because both are selective fire.

Right I was just saying that you are better with the SVT over the AVS which you can’t really say FG42 vs Gewher 41. Dont get me wrong I think each faction has it’s niche and that is fine by me.

Damn neighbors, their lawn is always greener! XD

FG42 is overrated, if it really that good i probably already use 2 trooper squad equiped with FG42 but i dont.

i did test it, at first i thought FG42 was godly then i tried to make FG42 squad using trooper squad i spent 200 order to get enough FG42 for everyone without testing it first then when i test it on real combat, it sucks pretty bad. run out of ammo pretty damn fast especially full auto only can last 3 sec per mag, the bipod doesnt reduce recoil that much, only have 1 spare mag, full auto practically only usable in building since it’s recoil is unbearable, etc etc. the only good thing about it is probably because it’s a semi-auto with 20round/mag

and you feel that way probably because you picked that up from ded body and treat it as super rare weapon where you would use it carefully. im pretty much the same i probably will ditch my FG42 for M1/M2 and treat as if it is the best weapon ever exist because i dont have these 2 while i can just use FG42 as much as i want. basically the more you use the more you realize why it suckse

If the fg42 sucks that means all semiautos suck because it has a better/similar recoil and double the bullets in the mag with a full auto function. So annoying that the weapon is not even better than that…

beside M2 because it’s practically an SMG or assault rifle that is completely has different job compared to FG42

Had the similar feel as you discribe, such a cool and smooth gun to run and gun with. Hope you find a dead mans fg42II sniper, awesome to shoot with.

Imho the value of the FG42 is that it’s very good, yet not the best, at pretty much everything, making it an extremely versatile all-rounder.

Is it the absolute best sniper? Arguably, since BAs hit harder and have better scope.

Is it the absolute best assault weapon? Arguably, since late campaign SMGs can do the job just as well while carrying more ammo.

Is it the absolute best LMG? Definitely no, since proper LMGs hit harder and have way more ammo.

It is though, indisputably, an AWESOME general purpose rifle, superior to semi autos thanks to the extended mag and full auto capability, while being able to perform more than adequately in almost any role.

M2 is a hard to control SMG with awful sights, i know this because i use it, so if you want a good SMG/AR then continue to use grease gun since that can fill both long range and short ranged engagement especially when fully upgraded with 8.2 damage

yeah but that’s not the case

As i’m grinding america for fow i’m really agree with what you say about grease gun.
It’s really fun to use,a bit slow for sure (still don’t have a maxed one) but you can control shots more easily + garand wich is great in all purpose gun

I’m only level 10 but i was planning to replace my few M1 carabine by M2 for finally have 50% garand and 50% M2 with my troopers.

Good idea or not?

I have both the AVS and the FG42 and I have used them both quite a bit. Apart from the severe ammo shortage I prefer the AVS simply due to the sights. I’m much more accurate with it long range than I am with the FG42.
