The Sniper class has access to scoped bolt-action riflles, semi-automatic rifles, automatic rifles, and assault rifles. But there is one class of firearm that is left out, scoped machine guns. There are not many machine guns that were directly armed with telescopic sights, but there are some. The question is should scoped MGs be given to the Sniper class or stay with the Machine Gunner. There are arguments for and against both
On one hand, the Sniper already has scoped weapons from other classes so machine guns shouldn’t be any different. You don’t see Assault with scoped asault rifles.
On the other the Machine Gunner’s job is to provide heavy sustatined fire support and having a scoped gun gives them even better view
On another giving Sniper scoped mgs will give them heavy firepower, such as Japan that lacks semi-automatic/ automatic sniper weapons
On another the Sniper carries standard infantry arms like rifles, carbines, assault rifles, and smgs for precise shots while the machine gun is more of a heavy tool for fire support
But if we let both have it then what if they let Riflemen get scoped rifles and Assault scoped assault rifles. If everyone’s a sniper…then no one will be
I also have an idea for Grenadier class, which pretty much remove rifle grenades from all other classes
I’m not against weapon sharing, I mean duh already Riflemen and Engineer share rifles. But we have to look at context
Classes like Riflemen, Engineer, Mortar, Flamethrower, etc all carry rifles but they have very specific class roles separate from the weapon they carry. While Sniper’s entire job is the weapon they carry. Yes you can say the same thing for MG but like I said who’s to say they can’t let Assault also get scoped assault rifles. So we’ve established that Sniper’s job is to have weapons with telescopic sights for precise shots. So I think that would supercede the MG’s fire support role. If it has a scope, it goes to Sniper. The same how the Assault loses out on scoped assault rifles that go to Sniper.
It would be pretty strong if they re-added scopes to Japan’s original machine guns. That would make Japanese sniper squads worth using again.
I just wish these scoped machine guns could be used by both snipers and gunners. I’ve heard older players say that Japanese machine guns used to have scopes, but they were removed later.
But since Sniper already has other scoped weapon classes, (unfortunately for some) it should just go to the Sniper entirely. Otherwise why not give Assault scoped assault rifles and Riflemen scoped battle rifles. It is the Sniper’s job after all
