The m24 chaffee is a premium tank for allies at br 2. While it has good mobility and he, it has a lot of downsides. These include the third longest reload of the br, br 1 level armor, and currently one of the worst at rounds. These all combine to make it one of the worst tanks for tank on tank engagements of the battle rating. What I propose is giving it m61 shot. This would give it slightly more pen and more damage.
This shell is the one that the m24 historically used in the war, not m72 as that was delagated as practice ammo by that point and not recorded being used by the chaffee until post war when exported to other nations.
The m24 chaffee is not br 2 due to this shell type, but all its other weaknesses. This can be clearly proven by the fact the m24 was moved down to br 2 before the shermans even got their m61 shot.
And this still would not be americas strongest tank. The grant has more armor, more ammo, more crew, an addition 37mm, and a faster reload. The grant would still outclass the chaffee so the meta would not be altered at all.
No thanks… it’s BR2 because it’s long 75 is pure AP… it’s mobility is excellent and giving it apcbc would just be sherman cannon on better chassis… albeit a perfect flanker.
I own the M24, love my M24, but the armour is def BR2.
Its a light tank so its not as armoured as Matilda II but its protection is still decent for its BR.
as mentioned in the post if you actually bothered to read it, it was moved down to br 2 before the sherman got apcbc. So that was not the discriminating factor.
Also flanking does not really exist in enlisted? The maps are too small and any infantry can ping you and give everyone x ray hacks to your position
The m24 chaffee is not the strongest tank of the faction at that br by a considerable amrgin and this is a mrginal buff, as tank on tank engagement regardless usually comes down to who shoots first. All this buff means is it would take 1 shot instead of 2-3 to kill other tanks
pz 3 m has better armor, reload, post pen, and pen. grant is better, m8 scott as you said is better, aci is better, t28 e is better, pz 4 e and f1 are better. id put it slightly above the puma with a big grain of salt
Wow so lets move all the panzer 4 down aswell. None have great armor and all can be frontally penned by all but 3 tanks in the entire game. Great logic.
On some maps it does.
Even if flanking isnt always that viable the mobility still allowes you to quickly get in position to support (reducing your downtime traveling to the battlefield) or just dodge bombs after you filled the bomber with lead with your mounted M2.
If you cant utilise a light tank with exelent mobility than maybe that is just your own personal preferance or skill issue.
If the M 24 ever gets APHE it will be 10x better than a lot of axis BR 3 tanks with gems like the Ho-ni 3 or chi nu or even the F2.
None of which have enough armor to stop anything but not even have nearly the accelaration the amount of mgs to use.
pz3 m has better armor, faster reload, better mg, better pen, better post pen
m8 scott has a 3 second reload. enough said.
aci is immune to explosive packs and tnt and at mines and just has good armor overall and a mg that never overheats
The m24 is my most used tank both in war thunder and enlisted. I am sorry you are so bad you are unable to acknowledge how bad armor, slow reload, and solid shot might make tankt on tank combat hard.
I vote yea because the Chaffee was dropped from BR3 to BR2 when both the Chaffee and Sherman had the basic AP round. If the difference in vehicles was substantial enough to warrant a downtier when they both have AP, then that difference would still exist if they both have APCBC.
Well unfortunately instead of doing that I am suggesting for a buff that only makes the tank actually win fights where it penetrates the enemy tank first. sorry
