The IS-2 has difficulty penning at its own BR. Since there is no way soviets are getting ISU/SU-152 or KV-2 HEAT, the IS-2 should at least be given APCBC rounds to front-pen the Tiger II as easily as they can pen it. They’d still have the disadvantage in a tank battle anyway because of the reload speed difference, but at least they wouldn’t have to rely soley on landing a lucky shot right above the manlet.
skill issue. APHEBC is the superior shell
There are about 2 spots you can reliably front-pen
I assume you mean the 471D version but I believe that this version was a post war development.
For me there is a clear NO for time traveling post war shells for a tank that is ment to be from 1944…
Feel free to prove me wrong with it beeing post war but just saying it must be WW2 only because the IS 2 in WT has access to it does not mean enlisted must also have it.
(since one game is beeing cold war aswell and the other just WW2)
that is a good point, but the game already has post-ww2 content in BRV
why adding some boring shells when we can have this instead
this is on the game editor and if is there it may be added and “may” because jadtiger is there aswell and havent been added since ages
Is that a t-44 100? If that gets added, it’s probably going to be worse for the Eastern Front than when jets dropped.
yes
If that gets added, T34 100 should become a non-event vehicle (it shouldn’t be one anyway)
shrimply shoot the turret face
Even on the testing field, I have yet to have that work. I’ve even one time shot all the way through the barrel of a Tiger II without hitting it, only for the shot to be stopped by the turret face and then die immediately afterwards. (In organic gameplay). Aside from the tiny weakspot above the manlet and the commander hatch, it’s almost impossible to front-pen.
fake news. IS-2 (1944) uses APHEBC. if you’re using the normal IS-2, you get APHE only but that’s a skill issue. why would you purposefully use the same tank but with worse armor and shell at the same BR lmao
I deleted it because I found on the more recent datamine that they did give the IS-2(1944) APHEBC. I was looking at the older datamine when I made that reply. I do not have the opportunity to go into firing range rn.
actually the only Soviet tanks that don’t use APHEBC right now are the IS-2 and the BR4 85mm tanks. (excluding lend-lease)
I tested it in the firing range. The penetration becomes unreliable at an ideal angle at about this distance.
Even at close range, though, the massive manlet hitbox causes it to fail to penetrate rather often
skill issue. Go in Gunner View and aim carefully, there is literally a color indicator telling if it will pen or not.
failing that, take a plane and CAS the tank. Hell, suicide bomb them
I know where it can pen at that range, the issue is that it’s only a few degrees of your vision meanwhile the Tiger II has a lot of areas it can front-pen the IS-2
Also the color indicator literally doesn’t work half the time, especially at longer distances (where high BR tank battles take place)
then take a plane. getting APCBC wont solve your problems lmao, that 30mils extra pen aint gonna do much at range. dont make everyone else’s experience in the IS-2 (1944) worse by requesting shittier APCBC.
APCBC would be massive at mid-long range. Besides, throughout all my time in BRV I’ve seen maybe 20 IS-2(1944)'s that I didn’t use. A lot of people find the T-34-100 to be preferable to the IS-2(1944) because of the 13 extra millimeters of penetration at minimum range. (I’ve never gotten the T-34-100 because unlucky, so I couldn’t say for myself)
Even just a few more millimeters of max pen would be enough for the IS-2 to counter grey-zoning Tiger II’s. Being able to reliably (not gambling on ricochet or aiming for the 10 or so pixels of the commander hatch) front pen the Tiger II at ~200m would make awful sightline maps playable as high BR Soviet.
Also, just ‘getting a plane’ is not a reliable solution ever since jets. Any good player (asking a lot from the average German player, whose pilots fall for basic trick maneuvers and tanks seemingly never drive away from bombs) would either intercept the dive bomb or drive away from the bomb.
that’s why you suicide bomb for a higher hitrate then.
this whole post is either a ragebait post, or a skill issue. APHEBC literally consistently pens up to 500m, and even can pen at 600m. Enlisted maps only go as far as 200 ish metres, so there is literally no excuse. Tiger 2 cannot angle its turret, so dont try making that excuse. From all angles up to 500m, you can pen it.
