“Germany manufactured 300.000 Browning Hi-Powers during the war” is more than enough of an argument for me, it wasn’t obscure and it wasn’t captured (though the factory itself was).
It should have a reskined model for the Germans and come with the German name, so that it at least looks unique.
If the Soviets can have the obscure (for them) C96 because a couble of 10s of thousands found their way into the area during the civil war then Germany deserves to have a pistol manufactured at almost a third of a million.

Thank you for your post.
An interesting idea.
The argument is certainly valid, after all the Hi Power has the distinction of being used by both Allied and Axis forces.
On the other hand I also believe it is a valid argument being concerned about factions losing their uniqueness.
Germany for instance imo has excellent sidearms. Meanwhile the Allies the Hi Power is the only good side arm in my opinion.
Revolvers in Enlisted suck while I personally am not much of a fan of the Colt .45. (the latter is just personal preference)
If anyone deserves a sidearm right now I’d be giving Japan the C96 Mauser. All of their sidearms suck except the Nambu and its not exactly great either. Japanese officers, like the Commonwealth, were also known to purchase their own sidearms.
Furthermore the C96 was very common in Asia, in China it was called the box cannon.
But to return to the original point, yeah like historically it does actually make sense I just think it’s up for debate for gameplay purposes does Germany really need another great pistol?
Someone suggested giving USA-UK other sidearm options which would be good, there were various types around.
Random questions:
-
Were any Austrian / Austro-Hungarian pistols used by Axis forces in WWII? Those could be options, as well as Bulgarian, Romanian or Hungarian pistols.

I have seen a couple of sources say that Australian soldiers did use the Browning Hi Power and it is listed in our list of weapons used by Australian armed forces in WWII on Wikipedia.
But I’m curious to know more about this because I havent actually heard or seen any real life examples of this claim.
To my knowledge most of our soldiers didnt carry sidearms (compared to USA for example) and if they did it was a Webley or Enfield Mk 2 revolver.
Because it’s Germany, not Soviet.

Well also the Germans did continue production of this weapon, last time I checked, I don’t think Soviets were making Panzerfaust and MG-34s
