Give ARs it's old upgrades

Right now ARs are extremely underwhelming weapons. Even guns like Fedorov Avtomat that is the best TT AR doesn’t stand up to the power level that Type Hei Auto or AVT40(20) has

Current upgrades for the weapon are:

  • -15% shot deviation
  • -15% recoil
  • +20% hit power and -15% shot deviation

This is rather underwhelming for the ARs and keeps them from being anywhere near viable

One thing to amend it is by introducing some of the old upgrades the ARs used to have and the SMGs currently have

  • -10% reload time
  • +10/15% RoF and -15% recoil
  • +20% hit power and -30% shot deviation

This way ARs retain their handling but get an added benefit of extra RoF (which is much needed for guns like AS-44 and StG) and less reload speed

As a side note: certain weapons could need their base stats adjusted to fit withing the new upgrade system but it should be relatively straightforward fix

Good ballance idea, however guns like STG44 already shoot 50% too fast.

I am actually of the opinion that the RoF upgrade should instead be removed on all weapons.

I just don’t see the point in using historical RoFs when you’re almost always using the weapons upgraded anyway.

Plus, some weapons just become way less useable when upraded, as the RoF just becomes excessive.

ARs have their fire rate upgrade built in by default.
StG44 base: 590 x1.10 upgrade — > 650 rpm
AS-44 base: 600 x1.10 upgrade — > 660 rpm

So changing the upgrades won’t change much.
However, I agree with @OggeKing that fire rate upgrade is ahistorical since most guns have their highest possible fire rate by default and the whole system is bad since the slower firing guns that would need the buff more get way less buff from the upgrade, making faster firing guns meta in Enlisted, at least in terms of time to kill.

Yeah, the StG44 and AS-44 obviously feature it, but not every AR. Its a confusing system that is not fully consistent.

I dont really think the AR’s are the issue but SF rifles that are just superior in every possible aspect.
Even after such buff, I doubt people would use 4x AR and rest SF, while you could use 9 SF infantry squad.

Unless the SF’s gets significant nerf, preferably increased recoil I doubt its possible to even buff AR’s so much that they would be anywhere near comparable.

I think the issue isn’t RoF, and there’s plenty of argument to be had about historical rates and in game ones, but I don’t think buffing them is the actual solution.

I think the problem is “shots deviation.”

The Federov is, on paper, worse than the AS44 in every respect except damage, ammo carried total, and dispersion. Slower rate of fire/more damage per hit matters some, but I think the fact that those rounds are all hitting closer to point of aim matters more. It’s worth noting that the Federov has the best dispersion of any tech tree AR except the sniper STG.

Assault rifles are supposed to be able to do rifle things at appropriate distances, and SMG things at closer ranges. They need closer to rifle dispersion, as they are they’re not really doing what they should.

AR should get the old upgrades back and probably with SF damage nerf as well.
The thing with BR 5 SF are that they all(Except Hei auto) have over 15 dmg(Which means one shot soldiers with vitality perk even at medium range) with automatic firing capability with greatly reduced recoil AND being an universal weapon. Meaning one could just run 9 man rifleman squad and all of it’s squad members retain automatic firing capabilites without much downside to it. It is in fact, Meta in BR 5 games and making the BR 5 games dull that there’s not much reason to use other class of weapons like LMG/SMG/AR. Below BR 5 games, these other class of weapons being used a lot so it’s obviously SF being too good is the problem here imo.

Stop pushing everything forward, leaving BR 4 further and further behind. Just nerf select fire rifles.

If the STG44 has any damage buff then it would reach over 10.0 damage and be able to OHKO people without vitality at close quarters

Current weapon upgrade system is bad, it should let us choose what to upgrade, especially the RoF. What’s the point of correcting weapon’s RoF and then got uncorrected with the upgrade anyway. HnG made a far better and flexibility weapon upgrade system (except grinding).

The weapon upgrade system is simpler here because you have to manage the loadouts of potentially up to 100 soldiers depending on how many factions and BRs you play at

Heroes and generals could get away with a more involved weapon customization system because people really only had 2-5 soldiers maximum (per faction, so maybe like 15 soldiers tops depending on how serious you were)

It would be really user-unfriendly for Enlisted to have deeper weapon customization considering how many soldiers you have to outfit

I don’t think it will be much of a problem if it come along with a preset system and UI to navigate what upgrades you put into the weapon.
