General feedback to Enlisted as a VC / MoH / COD2 - MW / RO / H&G vet

Well my quick 'n dirty experience with this new game after playing it for an hour of 5:

Pro’s

  • Graphics are decent, runs well on mid range rig.
  • Hit detection is decent.
  • (Gun) sounds are decent.
  • Great atmosphere.
  • Good gunplay.
  • Pretty well balanced; almost no assault rifles. Mostly B/A and some low tier SMG’s.
  • Anti tank cannons.
  • Cool maps but lack of flanking possibilities.
  • Interaction with environment.
  • Lots of noobs (console players?) so from match 1, I managed to get pretty decent KD’s already.

Cons:

  • Horrible GUI and HUD. Almost seems like Farmville with all those coins and currencies.
  • Navigation through the menu’s is a pain. Really chaotic and just too many features to my likings.
  • Spawn menu is a bit cumbersome. Why isn’t the deploy button on the same place as the mini map but do you have to press a tiny dot on the map to select the spawn location and press a deploy button on the left again to actually deploy?
  • Buggy. Sometimes movement mechanics do not respond (f.e. when aiming after a sprint, it locks the aim down the sight instead of toggling it back).
  • Lack of toggle button for crouch/crawl/stance.
  • Too many keys to remap. F.e. instead of 1 single button that can be set to either open a door or enter a vehicle, why did Gajin think it would be smart to set them all separately?
  • Tank gameplay is really bad. Especially the driving mechanics. Also they are pretty underpowered and easily knocked out. No 3rd person view.
  • Only few maps.
  • Map borders prevent flanking, ergo no surprise attacks ergo pretty linear game play.
  • Chaotic, some times unclear what to do.
  • Annoying bots.
  • Low ammo counts requiring you to either scavenge for ammo from dead soldiers, asking 5 bullets from your bumhole bot comrade that is constantly twerking you and giving your position away, or being lucky to encounter a munition supply crate which are VERY rare since nobody actually sets them up…
  • Grindy. Even for F2P.
  • Players spamming airstrikes.
  • Cheats (although it SEEMS like it, or they might be OP bots shooting you through dense bushes from miles away).
  • Repetitive.
  • No end goal / progression in war.
  • Endless perk upgrade indicator nuisances after each battle (will become less the more you played) and just to many perk options.
  • OP MG42 nests.
  • No real team play / communication. No cohesion so you don’t really feel like your actions really matter.

Final verdict: 6 out of 10.
Still needs lots of improvements.

I’m really wondering what the developer is trying to accomplish with this game. Which gap they try to fill in the WW2 game market. Right now it’s just run and gun… Rinse and repeat.

  • ??? I have crouch and prone both toggled to Ctrl and Z
  • “F” key performs most actions
  • sorry, but git gud

Much of this list is subjective. Some of it can simply be attributed to your limited 5 hours of play. MG42 was OP in real warfare lol
“Right now it’s just run and gun… Rinse and repeat.”
It can be if that’s the way you choose to play, and I will admit that’s how I played when I first started out. The game plays just as well when you decide to take your time and build fortifications/hold points with AI. I think the low TTK and realistic armor system pairs well with the casual gameplay, it fills a niche that is neither CalluhDooty nor Hell Let Loose.

You do realize the M5 is a light tank? Its not armored like a sherman in the slightest and its main mode of survival was its ability to move quickly, not deflecting rounds.

3rd Person view wont appear as the tank gameplay would be then too unrealistic and powerfull.

Depends. For me MGs behaves way too much like ARs (which doesnt make sense on all MGs aside the BARs) and pistols are quite odd. Too weak and too rare.

Thats quite funny consider the current situation with the MGs in Normandy, the starter tanks in Moscow and Normandy or the stats of the German and the Soviet rifles.

Well said. The maps are cool and something like this but mostly they play like shit.

Well I dont see any real problems with that and the two currencies are shown pretty nice.

Lol. I dont see a problem with that. Sometimes a bit stupid but at the end just like two clicks and thats it.

Yeah. Especially climbing is still too bugged and doesnt work properly.

What do you want? You can see grenade icons and all you need is to drive away as most people dont cook them. Tanks are pretty easy as long as you are not stupid and engage inf in CQC without support and bad reaction time.

Lol. In no game you mentioned on the title you have a 3rd person view for tanks (well in HG you have the ability by “looking” out with your crew dude but then you mostly get shot by inf)

Get to the point and capture/ defend it. Whats so difficult wiht that? That the people shoot back or sth.?

Welcome to Gaijn.

Build ammo boxes on yourself (I am not your maid) or uses pouches.

Depends. Bombs shouldnt harm people in spawns (since beacon spawns somehow have protection) and there should be a cooldown for spawning tanks and planes. But (at least the AA works in Moscow good enough) you can build a flak or spawn a fighter.

The grind is the goal. Still better than the dead war in HnG.

Ehm ignore it?

Blame the players rather than the devs as a text chat is more than enough.

Change it.

Create a mix of realism and arcade with bot squads, not a Hell Let Walk or CampOfDuty copy+paste.

Overall odd jugdement for five hours, especially that it became too repetive and boring.

Let me reply your Cons:

*Horrible GUI and HUD (your opinion)
*Navigation through the menu is super easy when you play some matches
*Spawn menu (you play on console, no?) on pc if you press Enter or Space directly respawn on last selected respawn
*Buggy? is a BETA, they still working fixing all that stuff
*Lack of toggle button? Ctrl or Z (as ShockJohnson said)
*Too many keys to remap? (now I’m sure you are playin on console)
*Tank gameplay agree. Underpowered… but some weeks ago, people was crying here in forums because tanks where OP because kill to much. But 3rd Person… NO PLEASE!!
*only few maps? ARE YOU SERIOUS?
*Map borders prevent from flanking? I’m always flanking enemy and is not hard. There is no reason to go 50km left to flank. Do it well
*chaotic and sometimes unclear?
-CONQUEST: Attack or deffend A,B or C.
-Assault (or whatever it’s name) capture the point with an artillery cannon tagged
(not so difficult)
*bots are working on it
*Low ammo: A little ammo would be better, but not much
*When you finnish the grind and have all your squads max level, the game will be boring. The fun part of that game is to level and upgrade your squads. (my opinion)
*Planes are worst (for me) than artillery’s
*perks are great, any squad will be the same due personalization
*OP MG42 nests: (shoot the MG, not the soldier and no more anoying MG)
*No real team play/communication (is our fault, not devs. players don’t speak)

Well. The Beta excuse is getting old for a game which is in development for six years now. Especially if you have to pay to test their broken stuff (over and over again) and most issues are existing way too long.

In development by a super small studio. Building a game this good with such a small dev team in 6 years is pretty commendable in my opinion.

Meanwhile putting Berlin behind a 50 dollar paywall and dont really communicate with the community (and basically cooy essential apects from WT and CR).

I think its stupid. But when it comes to how the game currently is outside of that its pretty good.

Honestly? And this is me trying to not sound rude:

I’ve seen enough whining about the pricing in this game to give me conniptions. It’s been far too long that I’ve had a game come out that blended my nostalgia from BF1942 with next-gen graphics and gameplay, and I’m more than happy to send a (measly) 50 bucks in the devs’ direction as thanks. I am blessed to have a good job that I can afford it, and those of this community trying to get something for nothing is tiresome.

Agreed, I can’t afford it but they are going to release it free soon enough so what the point of complaining? And I hear you cant even switch rifles in it so I dont think its fully optimized anyways and if it was released for free rn people would complain like hell.

Some valid points.

Most, I don’t have a problem with.

The best consumer ever… just buy and accept it.
You are paying for TESTING, not for a FINISHED game. Usually companies pay you to test.
Maybe its just me but I am done paying AGAIN for testing broken stuff where they mostly dont even CARE what we are saying. Why not at least make me pay 10 bucks for testing without getting those fancy squads in return or at least offer the squad seperatly for sale?
They already monetized the game with the coins, squads, membership and de facto with the BP. They have more than enough ways to earn money here.
But at the end everyone can decde on his own if he wanna support this mess but dont complain later for being scammed.

I just don’t expect people working on a game for 6 years to not receive payment. If I can help, and I can, I will. Nothing to do with being a “good consumer”, I’m simply an adult with a job lol.

Sorry you’re poor bro? Idk

Yeah, I thought that I already paid to be a tester back when I bought the Moscow pack. Which I thought, would give me testing access for all campaigns since we did get Normandy as well. But now we gotta pay an additional $50 on top of the $30 we already paid  like that just rubs me the wrong way, but it’s my fault for not realizing they’d do this. Lol shoulda seen it coming

I’d much rather just pay a small amount for testing access rather than $50 fucking dollars for some shitty premium squad and testing access.

Well ofc they should receive some sort of money for their work. But come on man, $50 for some “premium” squad which locks the campaign testing behind it? That’s just ridiculous

I dont have issues giving them money or am I poor (but then again I dont waste my money just cause I dont know what to do with it (Fine, if the consoomers here are that pain free) or paying people for treating me like a brainless idiot).

Just dont see the point of paying triple A prices for TESTING unfinished parts of a unfinished game AGAIN and here we cant even decide if we wanna have both squads or just one (like in Moscow and Normandy). Especially if their main purpose is “testing the campaign” consider the fail of the CBT testing in Moscow.
But then I am no consoomer.

To be fair, I will be irked if the same happens with subsequent released campaigns. Surely, Gaijin wouldn’t…
