Alright,
Didn’t expect people going off topic so fast.
I’m not going to reply to every single reaction but:
First of all, no I’m no console player and will never be one when it comes to FPS games. PC master race ;).
Secondly. I might becoming ancient but I go back to times where competitive FPS gaming was at it’s peak; playing for some of the best clans out there and won different prizes. Still active and able to pick up most shooters in an eyewink. Let’s call it nature. Why this is relevant? Just to indicate I don’t need to clock weeks of gaming time just to be able to do a personal Quick 'n Dirty judgement of a FPS game.
As I said, I haven’t gotten in every single detail of this game but those I mentioned stood out the most for me personally. So one may or may not agree but no need to be salty in replies.
That said let’s move on to some of the details that annoyed me (again, personal):
-
The key (re)mapping is cumbersome in this game because there is no need to ask players to set a different key for interacting with buildings, weapons and vehicles all separately. It just takes up menu space. 1 single “use” key should be enough. Same goes for weapon use.
-
As far as I could see there is no option to “toggle” the crouch, prone positions so that when releasing the button it goes back to stance. Yes I know there is the setting for the position switch and hold, but that is not what I meant. Perhaps this clarifies. And for FPS games, such a feature is a basic element.
*Concerning tank gameplay, please let’s not start to talk about realism. As a WW2 enthusiastic I’m pretty well informed about most most stuff. Fact is, this is a game and games are about balance.
Whether that being a game trying to simulate realism or not. Enlisted clearly is not and is more of an Arcadish shooter with higher game pace. I just felt tanks could use a bit more of a punch (the HE rounds have close to no shell impact) and the breaking system doesn’t fit the game/plays smoothly.
Instead, just leaving the throttle could/should make the tank slow down automatically.
Also, it seemed that sometimes the game messes up the steering and throttle/brake buttons after you remapped them?
*The UI, HUD and spawn menu are aesthetical issues I guess. Within FPS games there are some unwritten ‘standards’. Right now I just feel some reorganization / rework is needed to make them more intuitive.
*The maps ain’t bad. In fact I actually like them in general diversity and in terms of atmosphere and interaction with props. Perhaps a little more vertical game play (taller buildings, but that might be due to not having the payed maps unlocked?) but at least more space for flanking maneuvers. Currently it kinda feels like scripted game play with most players going straight forward to objectives like lemmings and being shot like fish in a barrel.
The current map borders could be widened up a bit.
*Bots are no good in any online shooter and to me just indicates the game lacks enough content to retain players or lacks players in general. They are either dumb or OP (I have read the same experience by other players you often get instant killed by head shots across 100 yards behind bushes) and never will they come close to behavior of human players. Perhaps I haven’t discovered it yet but an option to disable bots in the game would be my pick.
Currently to me the game is fun to play for like a few hours per week but I cant really see this game becoming the next all time classic like the CoD/MoH series were. It just doesn’t really bring anything new or outstanding that we haven’t seen before. I’m putting it in the same categories as the RO series. Just not quite it.
But please do not forget to teabag me when you met me in game and killed me. That is the best feature in any FPS game
