Dont get me wrong enginer class for the moment is still the GOAT but the squad now is becoming pointless…
dev already hinted that sooner or later other squad like MG one, get specific enginer build so we can expect heavy AT,fixed mortar and heavy AA but those dont come in the enginer squad instead they come in other squad
This mean that soon™ the enginer squad become a unecessary thing or a noob squad because other squad can do the same job better and faster

ASSAULT ENGINER!
Assault enginer retain what our enginer can do but they come with different feature
they use all kind of assaulter weapon (even shotgun)
they can equip the hammer or the tools, the hammer let the build rallypoint,ammo ecc, the tools let them dismantle faster enemy fortifications, dismantle wreck, see and removing mine and repair allied veichle
their backpack slot is occupied in case you use the hammer with the enginer backpack who have inside the construction material
they cant equip specialist soldier and the squad have only 5 member (necessary because they are assaulter on steroid)
Enginer squad in this way become a more all rounder squad able to accomplish different job and give 200% more support to the team.
maybe the explanation is confusing but is important you agree to the general idea, enlisted need give more option to the player for support the team and achieve results
I would also suggest expanding your range of buildables, like a rally bunker to replace the rally point, the possibility of making a bridge, the possibility of making MG With shield or better MG (mg42 and maxim with shield) and some type of vehicle, although I think this would be optional

Engineers are my favorite class in most games and especially enlisted. Giving them more options would be great.

So, not only do they have access to all assault weapons but they can dismantle wrecks and see mines? Have you taken a second to consider how they as you propose would completely kill any point of either regular engineers or assaulters?
What about a simpler solution? Engineer squad I also gets the emplaced MG, but engie squad II and III merge with flamethrower squads? Sturmpioniere basically.

When i started, seemed like this game would take for ever to lvl, so decide, if any money, would go into having the max stars, upgrades, weapon all decked, etc on a squad.
I would be happy, always playing, even if i, never get to end, lvl.
To me they just offered the most game play.
And just when i was about, to add a third squad to a line up, to have 3x Engineer squads, and this topic comes up, hehehe
I can agree on this, its your time and money in the end and you decide of use it, but, if was for me, instead of take progression squad upgrade, better buy and use 4 premium squad, the same ammount of money in the end

Giving engie I emplaced MG is nothing massive especially when MG squad I gets their HMG which is objectively better. We can agree on that, right?
Merging engie II+ with flame squads would potentially incentivize more team plays due to the inherit support bias engies have, and it could change the flame squads from braindead kamikazis. At least for the players that want to use them to their full potential. It would also reduce the squad clutter and make pure engie squads more competitive. We hopefully agree that’s something good.
As an added bonus it’s rather historical and if it doesn’t decrease it also doesn’t increase the already overwhelming automatics spam heavy gameplay.
originally prems only offred the four man squad, hence i was looking down the long road, and chose not to buy the prem back then.
Only for them, to give those prems of 4x a engineer, after they paid for what they chose, ie to get all the xp,
where as i saw it as, i lvl, the free Engineers, and i get 5x man squad( i did not know, you could add more to squad, via upgrades at the time) etc.
So, why are you, yourself, talking about engineer squads in the OP, then?
Regardless, taking as a base something that’s by your own words “the GOAT”; giving them more meta weapons despite already having access to FGs and whatnot, and then giving them superpowers that more or less play into the current meta is a mind-blowingly bad idea.
Give them asbestos overalls and heavy duty gas masks and make them immune to fire and WP while you’re at it.
What if they removed the “unique” buildables from specific squad types and instead Engineers can build any and everything, meaning they will have lots of tools for support in general
Or better yet how about make the buildables tie in with the new perk system. Have a guy specialized for entrenchments with tougher and potentially larger sandbag embrasures, another that specializes in MGs and so on?
