From the battlefield: Saboteurs

So you’re not still planning to force this troop class on us even with so many players against it, are you?
I remember the last one—the armored car driver—was already pretty much useless.
It’d be way better to just replace it with regular armored troops.

There are already certain drawbacks, starting with the fact that some factions don’t have many distinctive uniforms that would add variety to the battlefield, which would be a useful thing for this kind of squads so they can blend in well.

You’re right. They say they’ve listened to the heated feedback from the forums, but in the end, it still feels like they’re just trying to convince us this is a good addition.
The update is less than a week away. I have no idea what they’ll do, but the chances they’ll scrap this troop class are pretty slim.

The extra event slot is nice, but the Saboteur’s mechanic is still pretty stupid.
You can only disguise yourself after killing one enemy—so what about the other eight guys in the squad?

A better idea would have been a commander with their own squad, or a soldier who could be in any squad, with the ability to buff allies.

Just treat it as a limited-time event, like the Capture the Train campaign.

Kill two birds with one stone: Unlocking the Spy class grants you an extra team slot

In fact, adding a new event slot is compensation for all players. The official team is aware that this new class isn’t popular, but given the upcoming pre-update, they’re leaving it as is for now. If players are still dissatisfied after using it for a while, they can continue to provide suggestions for improvement.

I think so, the enemies forget to defend/attack the point just to get revenge.

That’s obvious, I wish Japan had more than one guerrilla squad.

Hahahahhaa but it’s no problem when you’re given sniper as first squad.

The news clearly resulted in a lot of mixed to negative feedback, yet you still didn’t listen.

There is still time to back out of this and change the theme of the update / event. Please don’t make Enlisted a constant paranoia loop.

It would be great if guerrilla units could get the property of not being actively targeted by AI. Right now, guerrillas can’t even capture enemy vehicles—it’s really frustrating.

I think they’ve kind of listened, but not really much.
It feels like this squad is just going to be released no matter what.
But right now, it seems like it’ll only be available through non-tech-tree methods,
as if giving it to us for free would just make us accept it.

Honestly I know it might be a controversial opinion here but I really do have hope this class will be a fun and engaging new thing; it mightn’t be for everyone but for those that really want to make the most of them they really do have some great potential for team play. Even if you just go around destroy rally points or ammo boxes and other fortifications. Hell I’m sure even some sneaky sabos will find their hands on machine gun emplacements.

Also it just dawned on me now. Wouldn’t another effective saboteur counter be laying down AP mines all over the place? If so if saboteurs are a worry get mine laying commanders, keep those rallies safe!

I hate the class, this should be part of the guerricha thing, I don’t like it and I will keep saying, BULLSHIT

This class sounds like a hell lotta fun, I’m just wary that it wont fit into the current gameplay meta.

The game is so fast paced and rush focused that single soldier classes sneaking in the rear need to absolutely know what they are doing otherwise your team is basically playing with one less player. And we all know that large parts of the players are rather goofing around already when just playing infantry and sending their AI into the objective would do far more good for their team.

With every step we take away from playing the games core design we risk adding frustration amongst those who still play the objective.

Therefor the question to me is rather if the devs shouldn’t think about implementing a new game mode that is less fast paced, objective driven and fits more into what a lot of players seem to want and where the Saboteur could fit it. So those who enjoy the cap/plant gameplay can do that while those who just want to fight for the fun of it can do it as well.

From what I can see a lot of the defense of the saboteur class concept revolves around them being able to destroy spawn points, ammo boxes etc. Which is cool but we already have a more versatile class to do that job - the guerilla. Guerillas can do all that behind the lines stuff and double up as an assault squad.

Aside from the potentially irritating gimmick I’m not sure what saboteurs add.

I was really excited when I heard a new class was being added, but what I was hoping for wasn’t something like the TF2 Spy. I was expecting more of a frontline-oriented class.
However, given the current map sizes, systems, and overall pace of the game, classes that can build jeeps or heavy artillery emplacements would clearly be a poor fit right now. Because of that, I have to admit that Saboteur is, at the moment, the most reasonable and suitable choice for a new class. To be honest though, my strong personal wish is that the developers would put their energy into new maps, new fronts, and new factions rather than adding yet another class.

This all day long.

There are all the minor axis that could be added, Romania, Finland, Hungary, heck even bulgarian voices and uniforms.

So many allies could be more rounded out, France, China, and many colonial options for uniforms and voices.

Russia could add cossacks. Hell cavalry would be far better of a new troop than this stupid Saboteur idea.

Japan is, admittedly, limited. But they could maybe do something with Manchuko? Not sure if they had unique uniforms. And speaking of uniforms they could add some more diversity there instead of a new faction.
