Firearms rework v1.2 Part 2 “Dispersion”

This is the second part of firearms suggestions, first part about gun mounting you can find here (click me).
In this suggestion I want to talk about the dispersion.

High dispersion is bad

High dispersion in a fast-paced team-based FPS with low life cost is frustrating. It can be used in games with high life cost like battleroyals (Cuisine Royale), not in objective oriented games.

Realization

How do I see shooting in Enlisted: first shot is the most accurate, 3 following is less accurate, and remaining shots are even less accurate. This will allow player to make one accurate shot or make less accurate short burst or fire even less accurate long burst at full-auto.
Keep in mind, that weapons still can be upgraded to decrease dispersion.

Here are approximate dispersion values for different types
(not upgraded disp | short burst disp | long burst disp):
Rifles: 0.06
Semi-auto: 0.1
SMG (2 categories - fixed/folding stocks): 0.2 | 0.3/0.35| 0.4/0.5
LMG: 0.12 | 0.2 | 0.3
Assault rifles: 0.15 | 0.25 | 0.35
Shotguns: 0.8
Pistols: Because pistols are unupgradable - 0.3

And “sniper” modifications are just slightly more accurate (about 20%)

heres my suggestion, rather increase recoil to balance certain weapons.

What’s the point of sniper rifles than?

Hmm let me think, perhaps damage at range ?

I don’t believe dispersion and bullet drop are the same thing, no?

Dispersion: accuracy - bullets don’t fly to one point
Bullet drop - gravity effect on a bullet

Isn’t the accuracy reduced due to the kick (recoil) of the weapon and the difficulty to maintain it in a solid, unmoving position? Not the bullets just simply going off course, despite aiming at a certain direction. Overall, shouldn’t the dispersion be represented by the player’s ability to control the recoil and not some artificial or arbitrary number the devs put on it?

In real life, yes. Another factors are slightly different bullet weight and imperfect barrel rifling. But in the game its simple RNG

I messed up with terms:
Dispersion - bullet deviation due to physical factors
Accuracy - shooter’s ability to control the gun (hold it still and control a recoil)

Even star wars blasters have dispersion

Only at dark side and thats because of bad guy school where they study to miss every shot.
And even that aint dispersion.

I’m not talking about stormtroopers accuracy, I’m talking about dispersion. In any star wars game there is dispersion for any side.

Quite irrelevant even if my little pony has dispersion isnt it ?

Okay, if we talk about real life, there is no firearm that is 100% accurate

Far as I know enlisted isnt exactly portrait of real life

That’s the reason why they gave every gun accuracy of a nerf blaster?

You can try to understand reasoning & logics of why DF does things that no one asked.
But id say you have better chance to figure out cure to cancer than ever understanding DF decisions.

But as said, dispersion 0, increase recoil instead.

with that you can overtap every other gun with machinegun on semi-auto, with that you can snipe with pistols and SMG, with that shotguns would be overpowered at mid range, with that BA would be useless, because every other class can counter them

Quite sure theyr supposed to be rather effective at longer ranges.
And even now, both has quite significant dmg reduction at range compared to BA’s.

Theres the bullet drop & rather poor damage over distance.
Lets put it this way, if you actually lose with any long range weapon to smg or pistol while both of latter guns have
A) Absolutely trash dmg at long range
B) rather significant bullet drop

You did deserve to get sniped.

shotguns has quite spread trajectory so I dont exactly see ppl sniping with it. And it should have the highest dmg drop at range so quite unlike screnario.

Well you can do it now as well by having 2 weapons instead of 1 and yet again you need very least 4 bodyhits with smg at “mid” range to get kill, quite sure not even that is enough.
So id say you have plenty of time to kill the smg user with your BA, if not well then you can start searching for issue between chair and keyboard.
