there’s a point where it hurts the balance of the game. StG wouldnt balance out the Garand as its unlocked much later

Giving americans the Garand as starter rifle does the exact same as all of these. Provide an unfair advantage for one nation due to their historical advantage at the time.
The main reason to give the M1 Garand to USA is that it was their most used rifle historically, and had it in higher quantities than the M1903. But if we allow that to be the reason to make balance changes, why are we not changing everything else based on that metric too?

Americans getting the Garand at a reasonable level and the Germans getting the StG around that time or a bit further in is more than fair. It is not at all equivalent to asking for a KTH to clown around in.

No, this would negatively affect much more engagements as the KTH would be more rare than the “early access semi”, until most of the playerbase has obtained the StG, in which case it flips around, with all German soldiers carrying assault rifles, stomping on the US soldiers.
While yes, the semi’s are only level 7 on both ends, but those could easily be moved down, at least to level 6 and replace the flamethrowers, but maybe even level 4-5. But it has to be done for both sides, then there is no need for StGs.
Either way, saying the USA needs them earlier than Germany / by default because they had more of them than of the M1903 is just freeabo talk.

They would have to be heavily nerfed to be balanced to the point they wouldnt be realistic anymore
Asking for a drop in damage to like 8 and more recoil isn’t nerfing it heavily tbh
8 would be a 2-shot similar to LMGs. So it would require similar recoil to LMGs to be balanced in that case.
Maybe not as heavy handed as the LMGs which pretty much require mounting though.
Which would make it better than LMGs. The magazine size is bigger than mag-fed LMGs as well, and it reloads much faster than belt-fed LMGs. It needs a downside.

The downside is you’d have much worse damage dropoff than the LMGs since it’s a shitty intermediate round firing from a shorter barrel tbh.
