Both of these event squads were added into the game when guerilla class didn’t exist so naturally they ended up as assault squads.
Their weapons, appearance, and divisions suggest that they would fit more into being guerilla squads rather than assault. There is enough assualt squads avaiable as it is, especially in tech tree.
Would you like to see these squads converted from assualt to guerilla?
Existing squads won’t be changed to be of completely different classes suddenly
Existing squads may not be able to be changed, but new ones based on them certainly can be added
Oh yeah! 2 new squads for an event 
Their customizations, their guns and the history of those units make them perfect for guerrilla.
And why is that?
Would rather see the guerillas ditched altogether. The grey zone is such a stupid feature of the game.
Because that’s not what people bought or did the events for. Especially in the case of Guerilla Squads, they’re a totally different type of squad that just isn’t comparable to the original squad.
