Event reward weapon: Fully automatic rifle - MP508

Gustloff MP 507 with semi-pistol stock and a vertical foregrip - 7.92x33mm Kurz. This particular rifle was sold by the antique militaria retailer Legacy Collectibles of Paoli, Pennsylvania in May 2025, it is unclear whether it is a production weapon or some kind of prototype.

Therefore, if it is a physical, fully automatic experimental rifle, then including it in the event rewards would allow everyone to obtain a fully automatic version of the experimental Weger rifle.

I thought full auto vg 1-5 was a myth that circulated from battlefield 5. Was there any evidence to prove it’s existence or is it just speculations? Also current vg 1-5 should be renamed to mp 507 but that is another topic

Where is this designation originated from, anyway?

Gustloff Mp 507 is the official designation while vg 1-5 was a post war misconception. Vg 1-5 refers to primitivwaffen program where 5 german gun designers made their last ditch bolt action rifles. These were named vg 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (we have vg 2 ingame). After the war someone thought that vg 1-5 was a standalone weapon while in reality it just means all 5 volksturm bolt action rifles.

Would be funny as event or bp weapon I suppose

From Gustloff Werke itself? Is there any proof?
Because in Waffenamt documents it’s only called “Gustloff Volksturmgewehr” or “Selbslater von der Firma Gustloff-Werke”. No designation was given as the gun was rejected by Hitler.

Spoiler

gustloff VG

Or is this MP507 an another fake name?

Wikipedia says that mp 507 was the initial name but it was changed to gustloff volksturmgewehr later. I guess both names work as long as it isn’t called vg 1-5

I think “Gustloff VG” would be better, similar to “Horn StG” for another not officially accepted gun.

In German, “MP” stands for submachine gun, not semi-automatic or fully automatic rifle. If its original development name was “Gustlov rifle,” then its semi-automatic version should have been named “Gustlov VG,” and only the experimental fully automatic version could have been called MP 508.

Yes, that’s right. If the fully automatic version of the MP 508 were added to the Enlisted tier as a Battle Pass or event reward weapon, its overall performance would be similar to the Mauser STG-45 assault rifle, and placing it in Tier IV would be just right.

Perhaps next time, it’s suggested that Enlisted complete the “Primitivwaffen program.” Besides the bolt-action VG-2 and the semi-automatic VG 1-5, the VG-1, VG-3, and VG-4 bolt-action rifles used by the National Commandos are missing from the game, along with their corresponding pistols. Therefore, the developers should complete the National Commandos’ weapon tech tree.

while it is debated it’s actual existance, it is believed that some sort of modifications to include automatic fire was possible due to design.

with that being said, i do believe we had some japanese guns actually not existing.

so i don’t think this one would be out of the realm of possibilities.
but i sure would love one automatic version of Mp 507

and sure.
what would it be the point if it would be just a reskinned stg.

but imo it can be balanced by firing slower. and not be super accurate ( due to being still a last ditch weapon designed for short to medium range ).

BR IV perhaps?
since it would be an improvement over the normal Mp 507 / “VG 1-5” that we have

@_DELAVR , you are the expert. So, please answer. Does this gun really exist?

This is the semi-automatic version of the VG 1-5. It lacks a fire selector; furthermore, judging by the magazine catch and the safety, it is clear that this is a late-production version of the VG 1-5. The MP 507, in turn, predates them all as the prototype of the VG 1-5. In short, this is a standard VG 1-5, but equipped with an additional foregrip.

However, Wikipedia points out that the Gustav rifle had a fully automatic version, the MP 508. If you consider the VG 1-5 with its pistol grip merely a classic semi-automatic rifle, can you find an experimental prototype of the MP 508 fully automatic 0-series rifle?

To be honest, the Gustav MP508 fully automatic rifle you found is indeed a bit… well, a bit ugly. But this proves that the MP508 did exist; it was the final simplified version of the STG44. It’s just that I wonder if it’s possible to convert the later-produced MP507 from semi-automatic to fully automatic, because the MP507 definitely looks much better than the MP508.
