[Event Feedback] Justice for the Lewis Gun - Add it to the Tech Tree!

Justice for the Lewis Gun - Add it to the Commonwealth Tech Tree!

Hello fellow forum dwellers,

Just an hour ago, the new Even fight: UK vs Italy" Event dropped - and with it, the long-requested Lewis Gun for the Commonwealth was finally added… but only as a single example event weapon.

This is a huge disappointment for many of us. The Lewis Gun is an iconic weapon of the Commonwealth. Even though it gradually fell out of front-line service during WWII, it found a second life after the Dunkirk evacuation, when reserve stocks were pressed into service to make up for the loss of countless Mk I Brens. It was even supplied as aid to the Soviets later in the war.

This weapon is historically and symbolically significant to a faction that has been criminally underrepresented in the game. Many classic Commonwealth arms and vehicles are already locked behind paywalls or limited-time events. Worse still, the tech tree currently only features Commonwealth gear as an extension of the U.S. arsenal - rather than supporting a distinct subfaction in its own right.

The Lewis Gun is the perfect choice for a Commonwealth BR III MG option. Why should future additions have to rely on prototypes when the most logical, authentic choice is sitting right here, relegated to a event curiosity? Why should the Soviets have more Lewis Guns than the nation that made it famous?

I beseech you now - fellow forum members, forum helpers, and the developers - this needs to change.

Proposal:

Replace the single example of the Lewis Gun in the event with a second copy of the Italian “Cei-Rigotti Rifle.”
Reserve the Lewis Gun for the next major update, adding it to the tech tree tied to the British MG Gunner I squad.
Rename the “Lewis .303” to simply “Lewis Gun,” as it always should have been.

Also Consider:

I’m fine with only getting account cosmetics for the Brits, Italy does deserve some love, but throwing in an old event/BP weapon (such as a BSA Thompson) for the Allies on top of everything else wouldn’t exactly hurt.

Why this matters:

Adding the Lewis Gun properly to the tech tree wouldn’t just please history buffs or Commonwealth mains - it would strengthen Commonwealth identity and finally give players a sense of pride in using authentic British equipment, rather than relying U.S. gear outside of BR II. This is an opportunity to make the Commonwealth feel as distinct and respected as it deserves to be.

That’s all from me. Thank you for your time and support.

If you agree, please reply and/or like this post so the devs can see the community’s voice on this issue. I know there are many of you out there who feel the same, let us not be drowned out in silence.

God save the King, and may God help us all.

Just confirming when you say

You mean the upgrades will be under that squad right?

Yes, that’s right, upgrades should be tied to that squad.

Sorry for the confusion.

Edit: I have changed the post to clarify the matter.

would be simpler to give the premium lewis from the ussr and give it to the TT of the western allies.

… kinda like the soviet received the m9 bazooka, some of the thompsons etc.

but we have been asking that since the lewis introduction.
and that was like, one among the " first " batch of premium squads post OBT.

Its crimial offense that they made Lewis gun an event gun after people demanded it gets added to tech tree.

i mean, it’s a " modification ".

so, it’s " okay ".

beside, wasn’t actually widely used in ww2 though.

This gun being named ‘Lewis .303’ are we to expect more reused copies as ‘Lewis 6.5 .256 Mannlicher’ or ‘Lewis .30-06’ next?
And where the hell is it’s bipod?

It doesn’t even have a bipod?!?!?!?

This would leave allies without any event reward. They always give rewards for both nations in these kinds of events so I suggest they quickly make 100 round m1921ac or use a plane from the editor like 57mm mosquito or seafire

Fair point.

I didn’t really mind, as I see Italy being treated worse overal than even the Commonweatlh (somehow), so I thought it only fair they get most of the love.

Also, really think getting two new event weapons should be a minimum during the first introduction, so that’s the second reason.

I’ll add your comment to the suggestion. Hope you still find it within your heart to like and support the suggestion either way.

How the British community manager isn’t pushing for this in the TT is puzzling…it’s an iconic commonwealth staple.

Hey, a suggestion is here now! WTF is going on?!?

All other suggestions are “suggestion - archive” category. In fact I cant even find this topic in the suggestions category.
Is this a new broken function or maybe helpers categories and forward suggestions like this, just we havent seen the system yet.

I hope some of my suggestions get added to this new suggestions category

It just got moved. I don’t mind the extra attention, gives this suggestion a second life.

Speaking of second life…

@Euthymia07-live @JestersTM @MajorMcDonalds

Could we perhaps get a official response to or acknowledgement of our concerns, and that the devs have at least been informed and are considering options on how to move forward?

I appreciate that the first suggestion moved to this new category was this one, which hints at some acknowledgement, but one in writing would also be appreciated.

They should add my sub trees post fr fr. Even though it’s pretty small

Its been pretty obvious for years that the lewis is highly demanded in the tech tree for allies…and that there is a vacant spot in Allies for a mid BR moderate capacity mg.

Would have been an easy home run…why always a swing and a miss

@OggeKing Add a Poll to this!

I think that would undermine the thread sadly, it’s been three days since the first posting of this suggestion, the bulk of the engagement has already passed…

Edit, I’ll add a poll down here:
