Enlisted is as good as dead

Remember that funny little battle royale game called “cuisine royale” that came out in december 2019? It was meant to be a funny little joke from gaijin laughing at this whole battle royale euphoria but it turned out to be a playtest of sorts - a joke game that gave life to Enlisted.

But what is Enlisted? A ww2 shooter made on the same engine as war thunder that even has the same models and vehicles taken straight from War thunder.
It’s all coming together now - Lack of content in “major” updates, campaign merge to make it less historically accurate just like war thunder, lack of crucial updates for AI and other important stuff and now leaks that confirm WW2 and korean war infantry weapons in war thunder… (not to mention ongoing infantry playtests in war thunder)
They didin’t start monetazing cosmetics in Enlisted because they are just greedy… They are just aware this is a sinking ship, so they try to squeeze the most money out of it before they abandon it.

Enlisted was never meant to last, this game served the same puprose to war thunder just like cuisine royale served it’s purpose to enlisted - it was just one huge playtest to see how infantry would look like in War thunder.
It’s only a matter of time before they announce the end of enlisted, I’m in no position to tell you what to do with your own hard earned money but if you care about your finances I would suggest NOT spending any more money on this rotting corpse of a game.

Knowing gaijin and their “ettics” even if this game gets swallowed up by war thunder you will not get everything back you earned here in enlisted once the two games merge…

Well, in fairness to Gaijin, all video games are sinking ships, they just sink at different rates.

The reason why its bc near update and Enlisted is on several platforms, its not a huge suprise.
Problem lies that 1milion matches isnt equal to players.
Bc mostly matches are with some bots in it.

Its called players seen on the statscard so yes that are actual players.

while gajing dont owe me anything and/or vice versa, and i sure do have my grips with the overall state of the game as well as “direction” ( or lack there of ),

this is just " slander " lol.

it’s the opposite actually.

enlisted existed as a concept prior to Cuisine royale that later ( few years ago recently ) became CRSED.

it was released showcasing the new engine, animations and weapons of what was going to be enlisted.

then added on top after being “”““profitable””“”" and gain more financial gain for actively developing enlisted.

not the other way around.

not actually.

Enlisted is on a older version of dagor which does get updated, but sometimes months / years behind war thunder.

which the vehicles themselves are ported and modified for enlisted.

fortunately/unfortunately ( dpeending how you look at it ) it’s not actually a 1 on 1.

this is yet another thrope that will forever follow enlisted.

while their advertsiement was a bit misleading during the first years of this game, the signs were still there from the alpha.

this game was never meant to be historical accurate.
nor ever will be.

because as much as i would like it, war thunder wouldn’t have survived either by just being historical accurate.
which that game wasn’t either after a couple of years.

on this, i 100% agree.

the fact that they tried to lock cosmetics that were free before hand to then gaslight about the gold boxes is pretty a good indiciation of how dire it’s kinda getting.

while i don’t disagree or agree, it’s a bit of a speculation.

because the war thunder infantry it self pretty much is going into an identity crysis that not even developers knows how or where to go next.

( feels that way anyway ).

because foundamentally enlisted challenged a bit it’s models.

on one hand you have people who like the concept of squads and AI.

on the other hand you have the other people who disliked it’s pour AI implementation and generally people who prefer PVP over PVPVE.

well, at the rate of updates and progress, enlisted can still survive for another 12 years.

after all, there are still many frontiers and equipment that hasn’t been implemented yet.

but yes, it’s clear that sooner or later there is only so much that can be done as far ww2 goes.

it’s very unlikely for the game to merge as it is foundamentally different.

but perhaps if all have to go to hell, it may not be a terrible idea.

but would it be really worthed having to import all sort of maps and models to then turn war thunder a 500 gb game?.

Enliated does not have 1million users, no game does

It does, the very large majority only has one, two or three matches played but they are all individual accounts nonetheless.

Obviously the number of regular players is not as high.

Thats over months and its a f2p game so 1m players isnt surprising tbh

funny to say no game does when cs2 has that many players at the same time

So if enlisted do have 1m player then br+/-0 shouldnt be a problem then? Or is that a lie?

So is this something that is going to change? Or it has changed? I am still confused about this. Are they going to change what use to cost AO to Gold and you can’t get cosmetics without Gold? I do not think they would be that stupid or greedy.

Well, number are just numbers - not opinions. They don’t manipulate the numbers from a database.

That started at June 8th thru today … yes its real

More reasonable outlook. Nothing lasts forever but these butthurt players are acting like Gaijin is going to shut it down today…

The digital landscape is littered with the corpses of live games. Marathon has only 350k active players versus 100k+ for Enlisted.

Marathon (2025/2026):

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (2024):

Anthem (2019–2026):

Enlisted is in a much healthier position compared to the catastrophic failures on that list. While it is not a massive industry juggernaut, it has avoided the rapid-collapse trajectory of games like Concord or Highguard by establishing a stable, sustainable niche. [1, 2]

Enlisted vs. The Failure List

  • Stable Core Community: Failed live-service games typically suffer a complete collapse in their first month. In contrast, Enlisted has been running for five years (initially launching in 2021). It maintains a steady daily concurrent average of 2,500 to 4,500 players on Steam alone. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • The Launcher Split: Looking strictly at Enlisted Steam Charts gives an incomplete picture. Because it was available on the standalone Gaijin Launcher for years before its Steam release, a vast portion of its PC player base does not register on Steam. [1]
  • Crossplay Health: Unlike localized or dead titles, it features full crossplay. Data scraped from global match replays indicates a cross-platform footprint of over 400,000 unique active players monthly across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. [1, 2]

Projected Life of the Game

The projected lifecycle for Enlisted remains stable for the next several years, though it is transitioning into a mature, slow-growth phase. [1, 2]

Factor Outlook Risk Assessment
Financial Backing High Operated by Gaijin Network, the same company behind War Thunder. Gaijin handles niche, military-sim monetization exceptionally well and rarely pulls the plug on profitable servers prematurely.
Content Limits Medium Stuck in a “World War II bubble.” Having introduced almost every major weapon and theater (Normandy, Berlin, Pacific), the game faces a minor identity crisis regarding how to expand content without fracturing historical accuracy.
Player Retention Stable Though concurrent metrics saw a roughly 15–20% decline from its peak Steam launch windows, major structural updates (like the 2024 progression merge) have successfully minimized matchmaking wait times.

Final Verdict: Enlisted is nowhere near a shutdown. Expect the developers to keep updating and maintaining the game well through the late 2020s, fueled by a dedicated core demographic that loves its unique squad-controlling mechanic.

I would be saddened greatly if Enlisted died, it is more fun than Warthunder for the most part to me

Game is not gonna die. I mean not in the way u imply.
There are tons of games where devs stopped updating but just keeping servers active and people still plays, if monetization exist they also still invest money in them. even right now 2 game comes to my mind as examples.

Absolute worse scenario devs will stop updating game with new content, they will leave the janitor guy in charge for keeping servers online, and even then there still will be people who plays this game and will continue to invest money
