Engineer rework and New Squad: Mechanized Light Vehicle Unit idea

how about they remove the AT/AA turret from engineer and replace with Medical Crate and Grenade Box for refilling med kits and grenades, the Medical Crates could have like 10 or 15 medkits in them total and the Grenade Box could function generally the same way but with like 15-20 grenades total and a build able stand mounted mg without the sandbags

And then add a Mechanized Light Vehicle Utility Squad

Vehicle 1: Half track with multiple configurations you could be given the choice between an AT cannon or a Mounted MG42 Machine gun for the back of the Half Track,

the AT cannon could make it so you only have 4 seats Driver, Passenger, Gunner and Loader and the Mounted MG42 Machine gun could give you 7 seats Driver, Passenger, Gunner, and 4 Extra seats in the rear

Vehicle 2: Jeep with Towed Heavy Guns like the Oerliken or the M45 Quadmount or the Vickers Cannons etc…

WW2 Jeep With Towed Gun Type 3

Vehicle 3: Ordnance Supply Truck with grenade/mine medkits/tools & regular/heavy ammo for guns/throwers/cannons and turrets these supplies can be picked up and placed to create usable supply boxes for your team.

Each truck could have a maximum load of 6 or 8 crates and you could be given the choice of what kind of load you want to have in the back of the truck when you manage vehicles in the main menu, each crate could take up a squad spot so say someone didn’t want any supplies and just wanted a full crew of players they could equip as many troopers or whatever other equip-able classes will be available for this squad

The load that can be chosen could be something like this:
Regular Ammo Crate (3)
Heavy Ammo Crate (1) ~Ammo is picked up out of crate and must be transported to vehicle/cannon
Medical Crate (1)
Tool Boxes (2)
Grenade Crate (2)
Mine Crate (2)
Grenade Thrower Crate (2)
Flamethrower Tanks (2)
Building Supplies (2)
Truck Rally Point (1) ~Truck Rally Point takes 2 crate slots and can’t be removed from the back of the truck, also the rally point can’t be spawned at while the truck is moving the truck must be parked to spawn at it

idk about all that replacing jazz tbh

I do know at this current stage of the game with high explosives killing people through concrete buildings, artillery,tank and airplane spam, any light skinned vehicles would be immediately destroyed, especially considering 50 cal would go through most halftracks.

it would make engineers more helpful for holding down capture points, teammates will be able to restock their medkits from medical crates and grenades from grenade crates along side ammo from the regular ammo crates.

and yea they would have to make it so tools work on light vehicles as well as on tanks cause getting shot up by a .50 or even a 7.62 would break the transmission right quick

i made a similar suggestion in the past, but the problem is, we currently lack of open maps to do so.

in normandy, they still could be somewhat usefull, but only there. russians do not have halftracks at all ( and if they do, would be only american ones ).

and unfortunately, devs are not taking in consideration transport vehicles in development as they stated in the last Q & A. so yeah… :frowning: i guess we are going to be stucked with tanks for a while.

Disagree with the medical/ grenade boxes.
They would cause too much harm to tanks and help feed the trolls.

Tanks, at present, are far too easy to kill with the detpacks, even a trooper with 2 or 3 can kill as many tanks. So having someone with a large grenade bag being able to wipe out tanks constantly would be a really negative effect.
Even if you could only reload standard grenades, it would probably go the other way and cause people to not really bother throwing grenades. (Like, when was the last time you equipped and threw a standard grenade)

Med kits, strong nope,
Someone with a decent gun and 4 kits in a large bag can cause enough hassle as is, imagine someone with access to unlimited refills, people would just harass knowing full well there is little to no concequence for their trolling actions, as they can just run back refill and return to the fight. Not needing to wait 2 squad deaths.

There’s no justification for halftracks, especially alongside tanks.

Explosive crates would be OP because someone would just need to stand next to one mashing G or N with F.

Especially in Berlin where you can easily get one on a roof and other players can’t just spam back at you.

you do realize none of the re-fills will be unlimited… i clearly stated that in the Original Post right at the fucking top of the post…

each medical crate will hold 10-15 medkits total meaning people with a large backpack will have to hit the re-fill button 4 times to get 4 medkits and will empty the crate from 10 down to 6 or 15 down to 11… same thing applies to the grenade box… they will run out of re-fills…

imagine all the cool things we could have if high explosives didn’t annihilate everything constantly.

no justification other then the Half-Track was one of the most highly utilized ground vehicles in WW2…

also they equipped them with 20mm Flak Guns and M45 Quadmount Meat Choppers… so asking for one with a fucking MG42 is the least i can ask for…

It’s more a question of if it would be justifiable in the context of the game where tanks will shit all over them and also planes need to be glass cannons (again)

thats if the slow ass tanks can ever catch em before a Half-Track with an AT gun nails the fucker…

like that’s what these light vehicles are… they are quick not because they are meant to take a direct hit but to try to avoid it…

I think it’s a great idea but it 100% would not work right now. You’d spawn and instantly get cat killed from the holy triumvirate of explosive spam. Planes, arty/mortars, tanks

i see your point with the arti/aircraft bomb spam, but to mitigate that they could give light vehicle units their own spawn area just like how to do for tanks on some maps, so people cant just target 1 area and get everyone spawning they will have to chose between multiple spawns and take the chance they might not get any kills

IMO they should change the vehicle cap to 1 light vehicle 1 tank. instead of two tanks. Similar to the 1 fighter 1 bomber cap. Or 1 MG light vehicle, 1 cannon light vehicle and one tank. idk

idk i feel like light vehicles should have their own cap of like 0/3 or 0/4

like light vehicles will be able to outrun tanks so as long as your not in the sights of a tanks cannon you should be able to stay alive in a light vehicle around tanks, meaning you’ll have to pull some close range donuts and use the tanks slow horizontal rotation speed to your advantage to get away without being blown to shit

and its not only the tanks light vehicles will have to worry about, bombers with rockets and troopers with grenade launchers will be a serious threat to light vehicles since they have explosives that damage on contact which will be a lot easier to use on a fast lightly armoured vehicle then on a slow heavily armoured tank

tighter maps like moscow has would actually be a shitload more beneficial for light vehicles then tanks anyways, like for example you’ve got building cover you could park a supply truck behind to create a highly stocked spawn location because the back of the transport truck is filled with supply crates that you and your teammates can grab and place around the map like grenade/mine crates, heavy ammo for cannons, grenade throwers/flame throwers and tank crews, medical crates, building supplies for engineers so they can build more and regular ammo crate

and the M17

and the ZIS-42

i could keep this going for a while… but you get the idea they had a lot of half tracks.

exept, there weren’t many of those halftrucks outside the american ones.
