The premium squad cannot use assault weapons in the 2nd weapon slot, while the comparable german squad can. Please allow the allied squad to equip assault weapons as well.

No. It will have access to a different ammo pool unlike the german ones.

If they do that then ALL of the factions need to do it. Not just 1 faction, it will be seriously destructive to balance. That means Germany, Japan and Soviets would need a AR for guerilla squads if the Americans got one.
In my opinion, NO squad premium or otherwise should if every other squad can’t. That includes anything the devs already have for existing squads, one side shouldn’t have a advantage like this over another.

it’s pretty obvious the reason they can equip them is because their main weapon is an assault rifle as well… and if you want to talk about things being symmetrical then the allied one has a unique melee with 150 sprint factor whereas the german one doesn’t.

The german ones can also access scotti naval rifle as well as MKB 42(M) (or MKB-35) which are assault guns and have a different ammo pool.
That’s not considering the high BR SMGs. For high BR the allies basically have pretty much the thompson 50 round as an option - as all the other thompsons have the exact same ammo pool problem which you described for the germans.
Didn’t think i had to mention but those are special event or battlepass weapons… not the second best assault rifle in a nations tech tree (hyde 1944)… especially after dispersion buff this gun rocks.
M1921AC doesn’t have the same ammo pool as the stick round… and neither does the thompson 30 cal which is basically an assault rifle as well wince we want to bring up event weapons.
This is not the exact same problem as all of the mkbs and stgs share same round… you are left to using kiraly to have different pool unlike US where they can equip both drum mag tommys.
If allies get to keep their advantage of having 150 sprint boost melee then germans should get to keep their advantage of being able to equip assault rifles… it’s called asymmetrical balance… a concept unheard of by any allied player.

The French guerillas on the USA faction can equip M2 carbines and T20 rifles so I’ll call it even and leave it at that, unless you wanna give German guerillas FG42s

From Tier 3 to Tier 5, my firepower was always inferior to the US Thompson submachine guns. Add to that the Allied sprint buff, and the only German advantage was the Tier 5 assault rifle. If the Allies also started equipping assault rifles, the existing balance would completely collapse. Then it would be Tier 3 with Soviet cuirassiers, and Tier 5 with US sprint assault rifles. Dude, that’s so unfair to the Axis powers!
STG44(S) squad already can equip assault rifle as secondary weapons cause their main weapon is already an AR
And the OP is asking for making M1 thompson(S) squad can equip hyde AR too
Ok well that makes no sense… if they get to equip AR then the soviet premium guerillas should be able to equip federov avtomat as well.
