DP-27 with Kubynov ammo hopper for BR2 soviet tech tree

The USSR only has a single option in their tech tree for BR2 machine gunners, which isn’t even a domestic design. There was prototypes of the DP-27 machine gun with an ammo hopper that was inspired from captured Japanese Type 11 machine guns. Because the Type 11 MG is already a BR2 MG, the DP-27 with the Kubynov ammo hopper feed system could work nicely for a BR2 tech tree weapon.

Weapon Type (For weapons only)

The DP-27 with the Kubynov ammo hopper should be a machine gun, obviously

The DP-27 with Kubynov ammo hopper should be BR2 just like the Type 11 MG it takes heavy inspiration from

:white_check_mark: Type

This weapon should be tech tree due to the USSR’s severe lack of BR2 machine guns in their tech tree.

:white_check_mark: Availability

The USSR only has a single MG at BR2 in their tech tree and this is a problem that should be remedied. While it IS a prototype and that is undesirable, it is better than being stuck with a single foreign MG in the tech tree.

:white_check_mark: Gameplay Purpose & Role

This would enhance gameplay by providing more variety for BR2 machine gunners for the USSR. They only have the Madsen machine gun which isn’t even a domestic design.

The DP-27 with ammo hopper should basically be a Type 11 MG with the damage and velocity of 7.62x54R. This would give it a slight capacity advantage over the Madsen which only had 25 rounds.

I would’ve agreed if it wasn’t supposed to be a TT item feels more like a reward item

This gun would be a PERFECT event squad and thematically accurate for the (Hopefully) new frontline of Manchuria.

It should not be wasted on a event. Hopper dp 27 would be perfect fit for tt since soviets have very poor mg selection in br 2

We have way too many event guns as is, plus Soviets need at least one more machine gun on BR2 for variety.
Must for tech tree.

yes, it would make for a good event weapon, but the ussr deserves a domestic lmg at br2 for their tech tree

I would rather they just added the RPK 1943 to the Soviet tech tree, along with giving it a 20 round magazine. However, I could get by with the 15 rounds if it were tech tree if that were the only option. The RPK is already in the game, so there wouldn’t be much effort needed for the Dev’s to slip it into the TT.

Could be a BP or a Prem too the Soviet prem been pretty lumpy

Completely ignore the point of the post which is to give soviets a BR2 MG.

@Willcario , I’ll probably disappoint you a little bit, but the bunker DP also holds only 25 rounds in its hopper magazine, 5 in each of 5 clips. As a matter of fact, the Soviets in many ways, therefore, refused him, because the Soviet command after field testing in the Soviet-Finnish war said something like this: “A machine gun with a magazine for only 25 rounds is not a machine gun at all” (there was also another problems by the way). After that, the DP finally switched to its proprietary discs mag. But still, the DP-27 with hopper mag would be great for Soviet TT on 2 BR.
