I know I min-max. I’m too stuck with practicality and meta crap that I can’t fathom concepts like
Picking secondary weapons over backpacks
Not having 2 engineers in every squad
Usage of throwables other than TNT
Spending bronze instead of silver orders for weapons
And egregiously, there’s no statistics to stare at so that I can stare at all those hollow victories and be smug about having a win percentage higher than x amount.
This is somewhat efficient, instead. Bronze orders come in huge amounts, by using them in dozens eventually you are likely to get a few samples of the weapon you need. The rest, if nothing else, can be scrapped for upgrades.
Equipping 36 soldiers with large backpacks, quad medkits, AP mines and TNT necessitates 468 bronze weapon orders. Excluding any freebie TNT and medkits progression gives you.
For the duration of a single campaign, from start to finish, you only get ~504 bronze troop and ~504 bronze weapon orders. With that kind of quantity, if you spent bronze weapon orders, then you would not have enough to fully kit out your troops.
The weapon upgrade system is a gacha pity system for those that didn’t get good rolls, but that’s irrelevant in my case since I use silver orders from spamming battlepass to phase out outdated weaponry all at once.
This means that, when I unlock the next appropriate milestone, everyone gets the exact same weapon, and previous generation weaponry is left completely unused.
I finished some campaigns already, I give you the example on Berlin, all my soldiers are 5 star (everyone), everyone have tnt pack and a pistol and I still play for the sake of winning and above It all have fun.
But, there ill be always a vain in me that wants to grind everything.
Currently lvl29 on axis Normandy and 18 on allied
26 on axis berlin and 13 on alied
13 on axis Moscow and 4 on alied.
And i still got like 200 weapon and 200 soldier orders to spare for crap spending. I get 5-7 orders of each type almost everygame… So that won’t change the fun factor when I play
This is a month old, but you get what I mean:
My bronze income it’s just broken, I can spend up to 5 orders per game and still have have a profit at the end of the day, so grinding and getting weapons/pistols/tnt packs and mines on everysoldier its rather when, then how.
Always have fun first. Then consider the grind and so on.
I have 4* soldiers purely because they can do the 888 build, and I can have the required number of soldiers to fill out my entire roster before I unlock the late-campaign rifles. I’d rather not triple the grind.
Consider that as the bronze order influx it’s just insane, and all we have to do is swap soldiers as we play normaly, not going for 5 star soldiers doesn’t have a justifiable why.
It’s actually (imo) a fun thing to fight for, and I’ll keep me interested in the game. Maxing out every campaign/soldier /weapon
It’s a side thing to do, and it comes naturally as I play. Having always some one on the academy isn’t something hard or stressful to do, since a full stared level 2, it’s better training on the accademy than playing in the field instead of a empty star one.
To answer the topic, we are all diferent, some find fun role-playing a sniper on a tower with 10 kills at the end of the match, others care about kills, others winning, etc etc.
But at the end of the day, we all want to max everything.
Because once I max a campaign, I stop playing it unless I have tasks to play x campaign y times. Bronze troop orders are best saved for a different campaign in progress. Whatever leftover orders I have, I spend on moscow axis because it’s my starting faction- And it is currently a joke compared to my Moscow and Normandy allies.
There is no need to save orders, you get them as you play.there is more influx at the end of the day than the need to save them. We get what we want sooner or latter…
Took me a week or two to have everyone with a pistol, a tnt pack and the weapon I wanted on Berlin axis. Wasn’t even hard. And I still had hundreds of bronze orders left. If we exclude the no life I had on that weeks eheh
The only orders I save are silver ones, and only use them on marginal upgrades on vehicles just to have them fullstar.
I only start another one once every soldier is 5 star
Every soldier have a tnt, a pistol and a full star weapon
Every squad is fully upgraded.
Every vehicle is full star.
It’s a stupid way to play, but I have lots of joy once it’s done. And since I have Alot of fun playing, it’s almost a side thing to do.
Then I can grind another one. There is Alot of content in the game to grind for. Alot! I would miss Alot of it if I stopped playing the campaign
Axis berlin and normandy are done.
Normandy us and axis Moscow are next.
Min-maxing can be fun too. Semi auto weapons chew trough ammo so fast it’s mandatory to use ammo pouches with them. On the other hand, I’ll take an assault or two in every squad I can and if the faction has, then use a shotgun as my secondary because (as evident from other threads ) I love shotguns
One thing is fun tough no matter what build I rock and it is winning and getting that sweet 1.5x multiplier. As a result usually the first specialist member of every squad is an engineer to plop down a rally point and an ammo crate when needed (so many people forget about the ammo crates).
With BP premium, you can farm 6 silver weapon orders and 3 silver troop orders every 2 days once you max it out to 60.
With the remaining number of days this season, that’s approx ~75 silver weapon orders, which can be enough to fully arm a few squads with late-campaign weaponry.
Generally I play for fun and roleplay (kind of).
It’s “me problem” that I absolutely hate playing meta in any game. I find no joy in copying solutions made by the others.
The only exceptions when I play meta are: I found out myself, that someting works well (but not too good, I don’t like OP things either); I just like particular thing and it just happened to be meta at that time (if after patch it’s no longer meta, I will still use it); I use meta as a base for my own ideas, change this, change that and something that was once a meta, now is my own thing.
I just want to have this weird “F” word that is forbidden in WT.
I play (aside from Berlin which is a no-go zone) all campaigns and on random matchmaker, mostly without all meta squads.
